screamed at me from the passenger seat to stop riding the clutch.

Three on the tree was the most underrated manual. A 66 Ford with a 352 was fun as hell up to 60 mph. It was in those old trucks that I learned to never grip the wheel with your thumbs wrapped around the wheel. One trip down a rutted road would be enough to break anyone of that habit.

You can thank the EPA emissions requirements for that
Funny thing is manual trans usually gets better mpg if you know how to properly drive one

If i visit a foreign country and the setup is like this (a real pic i just pulled from an Asian rental car site)- how long do you think it’ll take me to learn how to shift with my left hand ? Im serious.. i am right handed and have only ever used a stick shift with my right hand .

Too much work driving manual trans. How am I supposed juggle shifting while I’m texting and driving?

Not long. I've driven manuals in Ireland and England. First is all the way to the left.
What's really annoying is some cars have the turn signal stalk on the left side of the steering wheel instead of the right.

It’s not that hard to get used to. I did it in Ireland for a road-trip.

Seems kind of daunting to me.. Especially since I’ll be driving on the opposite side of the road than im used to.
At least, im assuming, that the clutch pedal is in the same spot ?

Not leaving this world, manuals are still much more popular around the world. Automatics dominate the US and Canada (not sure about Mexico), but that's it.

Paddle shifters. I have them but never use them.

You're an idiot. Gen X was always too small to impact market demand for automobiles, it was always about the baby boomer market and what they wanted at whatever stage of life they were in (plus economic/regulatory pressures of the time). Hence all the front wheel drive GM shitwagons with automatics.

I learned to drive on a manual transmission. After driving an automatic I never wanted to go back to a manual unless I was driving a Porsche or Ferrari.

This was my grandfather. To this day I don’t even leave my foot on the clutch between gear shifts.

It’s not that hard. I’ve driven in Australia, Namibia and Ireland without a problem. There are so few countries in the world that are left hand drive it’s not something to even worry about.
I mean if you can drive a tractor, forklift etc then you should be able to shift on the left. The thing that gave me the most problems was flipping on the windshield wipers when I wanted the turn signal.
