I Think bison once lived all over the area of The Current U.S.. Just not in the huge numbers like on The Plains and out west. When new settlers arrived though, they got killed off pretty fast.Same with Elk.

You basically have two types of people at Yellowstone/ Jackson hole. You have the hardcore hikers, skiers, fisherman, etc.; and then you have the stupid liberal big city folk and the foreigners. Its such an odd breed. You run into so many people looking for a "western" vacation. My parents did a rafting trip there with a late 20s year old couple from NYC and the guy kept freaking out about the horseflies, like completely scared of them.

I saw somewhere yesterday that a 2000 pound housbroken bison was for sale in Texas. Said it lived inside and had never made a mess.
