The homeless in Charleston are pretty awesome for the most part.

I ran into a homeless guy in Whitefish Montana a few years ago and a couple of hippie looking girls with some sort of protest sign were preaching to him about some environmental cause. He grabbed her granola bar and threw it in the bushes and told her to get her commie arse out of his town. He started walking with my family as we walked by and he was funny as hell. I handed him a $20 and some woman runs up and says don’t give him money he will just buy alcohol. I said lady I don’t give a fuk what he buys with it. Still laugh when I think about him telling me about throwing their granola bars in the bushes.

I was tripping one night at the Flora Bama. Took a hit of acid right at closing time. Had a blast with some people from Auburn on the beach the rest of the night just outside of the bar. We ended up a half mile away in front of some condos. Sun began to rise and people starting bringing out their chairs to lay out on the beach. I started freaking out at this point, walked all the way to the Perdido Pass Bridge, jumped in and swam to Robinson island to hide for whatever reason. Stayed there until I could get my shite together. Some folks picked me up on their boat and took me back to the Flora Bama around 10 that AM. Took a cab home from there. That was 25 years ago.

Nothing to really do with this guy from Charleston, but I see how things like this might happen.

Did you start this thread to remind everyone that you live in Charleston?

No

The guy lived off Ashley near Colonial Lake

The first place I’ve seen this information was in this thread. So if 1.5 miles is “nowhere near” then I guess your statement would be right.

quote:

he was last spotted around Broad and East Bay

I haven’t seen that reported anywhere, where’d you see it?

quote:

If you walk up East Bay you’ll hit the walking path for the bridge

I’m aware. From this guys house to the top of the bridge is about 4 miles. That’s a long drunk walk, especially considering it’s a trek up that bridge.

Again, how much did the news report about his phone and CC records? Ubers are very easy, maybe he took an Uber to a girls house and she wasn’t home and he walked a ways, slipped and fell. 1000 possibilities. The police have a much better idea most likely with the 2 records above.

Dude you don’t live a few blocks from Ashely ave. Where you live there aren’t city blocks it’s just the river, a municipal building, fields, and parking lots.

4 miles

Seems like the dude wanted to kill himself, why the frick would he care about being tired from a long walk lol. Plenty of fat fricks walk that bridge every day it’s not like he was hiking the AT.

I can't find this now, but I know I saw it in articles when he was still missing.

I admire your passion for...defining proximity to Ashley Ave in Charleston. Just a heads up though that that street runs all the way up the peninsula. It's just up the way from me.

And the fishing pier, the park, the baseball stadium, The Citadel and its football stadium, the marinas...we quite like it here. Where about on the peninsula are you? I assume we're not neighbors given your clear animosity toward all things west side, but you never know. Maybe we could meet at Salty Mike's for a pickleback shot sometime!

Said he was with friends at their place until 2 a.m., so that's the strong assumption. The speculation here is what's interesting.

This is the second white male in his 20s to wash up on an island off of Charleston in the past week. First guy went missing Saturday March 23, found washed up on James island Sunday March 24.

News article RE first body

This doctor kid went missing exactly a week later and found the same way (but on different island).

Obituary

quote:

Leland McClellan III, 26, of Mount Pleasant, was found dead on James Island

Interesting that both bodies were found on the opposite side of the peninsula from where they lived.

Mount Pleasant guy on James Island, Ashley river side of peninsula guy on Shutes Folly Island on the Cooper/Wando side between Downtown and Mt. Pleasant.

eta: Think I'll stick with the bar 2 miles from my home on Johns Island.

awesome spot to anchor down during low tide. Great sandbar a little ways off from the beach. Had a great 4th of July out there last summer.

Cocaine

To be fair I've never done coke, but why would one get home at 2am from partying and go out to buy cocaine? Would you not buy it earlier in the night to use while partying?

Is that normal to want more coke at 2am when getting home? I guess its like pot, and people smoke all the time when they get home. Like a nightcap.

You’re over half a mile from Ashley Ave. if someone told me they lived near Ashley and sent me to your building I’d feel like I was lied to. Also you listed 3 fields that you live near after I told you there’s nothing but fields and parking lots. All 3 of those fields have parking lots attached to them.

ok man. You're totally right about whatever point you're trying to make...perhaps "half a mile from something is really far from it". I think the other might have been that it's quiet by us, which it is, and which is great. Except on gamedays, which I also love.

He was drunk and tried to swim out to Fort Sumter. Bad decisions have consequences.

He's not the first - he will not be the last.

Do you even realize how far out Fort Sumter is from the peninsula?
