In Huntsville a few years ago some woman in her 30's approached me in a Target parking lot asking for gas money. The old "I just need $5 so I get my kids to daycare" scam. I told her to take a hike...
A few weeks later the same woman approached me in an Office Depot parking lot just down the road from Target. She obviously did not recognize me. I asked her if she had gotten enough gas money to drive across the street and continue begging. She had a glazed look on her face like her scam had be outed. This time I less than politely told her to frick off.
Damn professional beggars suck.

This. If you ever ask me for money, you'd better look like an Auchowitz survivor. Like the food you'll buy with this money will literally save your life. Otherwise, get fricked.

I would give him more shite for being such a shitty parker.

Me too.
Fat homeless people make me skeptical. Clearly you're eating well.

And that's why I never give money to anyone who's asking for it unless I know them personally.
All of these stories make it very difficult to donate to any beggar, charity, church, etc. I'm with you, I save my donations for people I know personally that can really use the money.

There's an entire underworld of beggar pimps, that provide a place to stay and access to drugs for a price.. The men usually beg and women are hooked on backpage or other similar sites..

In college I gave money to a man on State St that looked kind of special. Immediately afterwards a woman approached me and told me that he lives at home with his parents and gets two checks a month from the gov.
If they're legit homeless, they can take advantage of the government phones, housing, medical, and food stamps I already pay for with taxes. If they're legit veterans like most claim to be, there's also the VA.
I really don't understand why people keep feeding the strays.

Jesus was pretty clear about how to handle the less fortunate. I will buy food every opportunity I get but I don't ever give money.

Anywhere else, I just ignore them.

Corner of Elysian Fields and 610.
There is an African American lady out there almost every day with about 5-6 chirruns out panhandling. They have different "uniforms" (they aren't even uniforms, they are just clothes that look vaguely like a cheerleader or something would wear) for different days of the week. They are "raising money for their team", different teams every week.
Funny stuff. Obviously its lucrative. We are talking like kids ranging from like 6 walking in a 3 lane street to 14ish.

This is particularly funny if you know the price of day care

I saw the same thing happen in the back of a WalMart one time. I was parked in the back killing time waiting to meet a friend and a guy pulled up in a new and clean Dodge SUV and parked. I looked over because I saw him get out (wearing very dirty clothes with holes in the jeans and jacket) with a big German Shepherd.
He then goes around the back and pulls out a gas can and cardboard sign, locks the car and starts walking out toward the road.
TLDR; don't give money to any of these frickers, donate money straight to a local shelter instead.

Here's the most popular one in BR that I get:
Hey man, my car broke down and I just need $9 to get me a cab back to where I'm staying"
In Lafayette when I lived downtown, it was always:
Hey man, I've got an offshore job lined up and I need to get to the port of New Iberia. All I need is like $10 and I'll have the money to get there.

There is an intersection in Jackson where it's always young men and women begging for change. It's ridiculous. Then, at the end of the day, they are picked up by somebody in a car or truck. This morning, a cop told them to gtfo. I'm glad he did. shite is out of control.

One huge guy always at the corner of Tulane and Claibourne. Has to be at least 400 pounds.
I wonder how he got that big being homeless. He could not eat for four months and still be big.
Another that pisses me off is the lady in front of Costco who has been pregnant now for well over a year.
I saw her a few weeks ago and offered a $20 if she showed us her belly.
She knows it's a fake....
If you go that way ever you know who i'm talking about

Tried to give a beggar a cheeseburger from McDonald's one time in Nashville, fricker threw it back at me and only wanted cash. Guess he was short on Mad Dog money.
