The odd thing is that the woman was found in a parking lot nearby,
The impact threw her that far

No matter what, he should have stopped and called 911 if he had a working phone and waited for police. He was either intoxicated or just a irresponsible selfish punk.
If he was drunk then it was good that he sobered up. Vehicular homicide can carry some serious jail time.

I thought only murderers got cheap bond

And I may be mistaken, but bond is basically set as an inducement to appear in court. If you're a flight risk - high bond. No flight risk - low to no bond.

Baton Rouge police arrested the man accused of killing Breunkia Collins in a fatal hit-and-run accident on March 12.
Per Kiran, the deceased was crossing Sherwood around where that Hookah lounge is.

What is your obligation if you are in a suspect area after dark and it is clearly not your 'fault?'
I would think that driving immediately to the nearest safe area and reporting the incident should be sufficient.
as a matter of fact, is a plain citizen obligated to render assistance in such an accident?
Morally - I think there is an obligation to render whatever aid you are capable of effecting. But it it is in a dangerous area - especially if the accident was unavoidable - it would become a close call.

So we’re just letting everyone out now. Someone lost their life and he’s out on a $330 bond. Wtf

The article doesnt detail the charges. If he was just charged with a hit and run, his bond should not be high.

I am not so sure I would stop myself after hitting one of these drug addicted derelicts walking in the road. They have yet to release the victims name as if no family has come forth in her defense. Just sayin'.
Douche.

I wouldn't put it beyond some dad to take matters into his hands. One day it's gonna start happening and people might want to stay in jail a lil while to let the dad's anger to settle down. I couldn't blame the dad at all.

What if this happens off Plank near Prescott? What are you going to do then?
This would be a terrible position, even stone-cold sober.
