I don't give a shite about the pollution aspects.

If an $30K electric car can get me from paying $250/month in gasoline to $25/month in electricity, I will buy it without hesitation.

What is stupid about it? It's a widely understood criticism of EV vehicles. OP is actually somewhat Germans if anything.

Do they have an impact? Yes. Is it less than fossil fuel energy, and continuing to be less and less so all the time? Also yes. That's the point. Stop looking at only one part of the equation.

The govt will figure out how to tax you for road use since you aren't paying fuel tax like the rest of us.

What type of fuel source for EVs does the environmental community support?

Coal? Nope
Nuclear? Seems like a nope
Hydro? Damming rivers is a nope
Wind? NIMBY and muh birds
Solar? You can't capture enough sunlight
Natural gas? Nope - fossil fuel

So...?

I think most people are very open to alternative energy and new technologies. They just don't want the government picking winners and losers based on political, militant environmentalism.

Within reason, let the market work. Big government stifles innovation. It doesn't foster it.

The Paris agreement wasn't going to produce any significant reduction in Earth's temperature, and even the people who drew it up know it.

Most reasonable environmentalists endorse all of these.

I can just about guarantee that no one on Earth (with a functional brain) thought the Tesla had zero emissions. That would be the most absurd assumption I've heard of in quite some time

They use like 15x more energy or material to produce vs a plastic grocery bag

That means you have to use it 15x before making any net impact on the environment.

Not really. You just have to use one reusable bag to replace 15 regular bags. I've generally found that a reusable bag can hold more than a disposable. If one reusable bag can hold the same amount as two disposable, then it only takes 8 uses before the reusable bag has surpassed the disposable bags.

Most people probably make 8 trips to the grocery in 3 months.

Tesla's suck. 9hr charge to only go 250 miles. Oh and the cars are 60k+. And Elon wonders why nobody is buying his cars

In the manufacture of the vehicles? Not as far as I know.
