but the rest of Baton Rouge is quite shite
plenty of really nice places in BR. hell if you lived down nicholson towards lexington or university club or off south bluebonnet and went to school at LSU you could avoid pretty much all of it. live off ben hurd and you could avoid almost all of it as a student
sure there is plenty of crime around BR. but if you stick to higher end places, live in higher end places, BR is fine other than the traffic.

After HS I worked in warehouses, job hopped on a dime, started and quit 50 things, and just generally never followed through on anything.
It wasn't until I started to really take stock of my life when I turned 28 and where I was at that I decided I needed to change. And honestly, I don't think I would have without the support of my wife who I love so much I don't want to subject her to my impulsive behavior. All of this without medication, I was able to get back in school, graduate with a 3.75, get a job at a reputable accounting firm, and I'm on the road to becoming a CPA at 32.
I can't go back, but knowing the road I was going to have to travel, now I would beg my mom to put me on some sort of medication. I would plead with her. I got incredibly lucky in my circumstances. Maybe if I was medicated and was less impulsive (a primary adhd trait), I would have done better in HS. Maybe I wouldn't have had to work shitty jobs and feel bad about myself for a decade, all the while having shitty people tell me I need to grow up.
You sound exactly like my son. He's 38 now with a family. He made a change and has learning the construction business under someone who needs someone they can trust and has trained him to grow with the company as it grows. Like you, he should have been on medication when he was 7-8 years old. He tried it as a jr in hs and didn't like the way it made him feel because he was used to being the impulsive, popular guy. But when he was on it, his grades were MUCH better. Now, he will tell you he didn't try at all in school and he is very smart if studying something he is interested in.
College probably wasn't the right path for him, but he understands that simply working at a trade doesn't get you anywhere. They need to own the business and not be a 1-2 person shop where they are climbing in attics in their 50s and only making a lot of money if they are working 60 hours a week.

If you are raising sons, make them Godly men. We need this in our world!

She offered him a peach and he was weak.

You realize 85% of college majors are worthless right?
Women go to college for the majority of those worthless majors.
Unlike you, lots of men are waking up and realizing this. They aren’t going into debt for some bullshite major that won’t land them a job.

College is about to change or die. AI is going to do a much better job of educating people and it will be free. They know that.

And let him know that unless he is head and shoulders above a female competitor for the same position, he is dead in the water and better be ready to be disappointed.

Dear Taliban
I was blessed to be raised by strong woman, around strong female siblings, and married one strong wife
Sorry you were not so fortunate.

I see we are in the “He-man woman haters club” screed early today. The above quote is perfectly apt to men today too. And not just progressive men, all men.
Ah yes, arguing in absolutes at its finest! Arguing against a post lumping all women together by lumping all men together. Brilliant!

And if not, make sure they learn a trade that will yield an above average income.
Women are currently dominating the academic realm. There are more women in college than men and girls are outperforming boys prior to college.
If the last 60 years have taught us anything, it is that there is an inverse correlation between women gaining more power and influence and the success of western civilization.
Men have to lead and continue to be in positions of power and influence. Otherwise, we are all doomed. Why? Because men are more virtuous and more rational than women.
This is the basis of the Mike Rowes of the world, most who have never worked a day in a trade after the age of 20 if then, going about extolling the virtues of the trades and vilifying education. They DREAM of a day when a man can work in a shitty steel mill and earn enough money to more or less have a wife who is little better than a piece of property. There is also the element of the wealthy and elite having ALWAYS been opposed to educating the proletariat and as usual they can rely on their lapdogs in the middle class to tote the water for them on that front. It has created a generation of incels who are far more irrational and dangerous to society than all women of all time combined.

Yea they are still far worse than men at Physics, Chemistry, Comp Sci, Math, and Engineering.
They dominate the non-sciences and soft sciences.
We have to import men from India.
