Karen Bass and Gavin Newsome are throwing this person under the bus.

Leaders take responsibility.

If she truly wasn't raising the alarm as often as possible about the budget and they were slashing it left and right, then she absolutely is at fault here.

How often should one raise the alarm about a multimillion dollar budget cut?

Hopefully never. Hopefully the person above you knows that they just cut this out of the FF budget and that might be a problem during fire season.

But lets look past all of that.

Sounds like she shouldn't be in charge then. A lot of heads should roll.

She is also a leader. She needs to also take responsibility.

As often as possible so that it leaves no doubt that you have been doing everything possible to do your job.

while i agree.
she nor Newsome nor any of the local authorities have to. They can and will sweep it under the rug by using the “climate change” excuse and blame misinformation for any other reasoning blamed. And no one in the local or national media will hold them accountable or question that reasoning.

and for the reason i explained above, none will roll. it’s California.

You're going to need to go over to Pasadena to do that for the majority of them......an entirely different fire, a different fire chief, and a different mayor. Of course, most people can't even name those two people at this point.

Los Angeles resident @JereSimpson asked Elon to help LA firefighters, who had lost internet, restore connectivity.

In response, Elon sent Tesla Cybertrucks loaded with Starlinks.

Someone from LA Mayor Karen Bass’ office heard about this, and called Jere asking for help too.

After she caught wind, Karen refused help because she “was not interested in solving this problem if it involved Elon Musk”.

The average person doesn’t follow politics, or only consumes mainstream media and has no idea how petty these people can be.

Their selfishness knows no bounds.

Thanks to @JereSimpson and @elonmusk for filling gaps that our leaders won’t.

But they really shouldn’t have to.

Question for readers ... I'm watching the news and they're talking about looting going on after the fire.

It's probably a stupid question, but what's salvageable to loot after a fire?

And they don't have the national guard limiting access like after a hurricane?

You evacuate your home before it burns, with maybe your car and a change of clothes if you're lucky.

Someone then goes in and cleans out your house.

Jewelry.

Not to mention that all homes do not burn down.

It isn't just the burned homes that are/were abandoned, it is also all the homes in mandatory evacuation areas under threat of the fire. Thousands of people left their homes in short order.

They do.
