My wife read some stuff on Facebook. People saying that we wouldn’t be allowed back in due to curfew. My response, was “frick their curfews” but in all honesty could we be turned back?

You can be turned back yes. After Katrina they had strict curfews and road blocks and traffic stop checks everywhere. It’s not safe at night with no power and the roads have debris and down power lines.

If you have your ID and you ask politely sometimes they’ll let you in and if you’re persistent you can find a way around. But don’t underestimate how dangerous it is right now between the nature and the opportunistic people and lack of police manpower and everything else.

If you don’t have to go back, wait a few days. If you absolutely have to go back be extremely polite and try your best. Be prepared and be vigilant.

We weren’t turned back after Laura. Only hampered by fallen trees and debris blocking the roads. It took a few days to get access. But they didn’t turn anyone back.

Appreciate it. We came up to Dallas…. Won’t have any issues getting down 49, but it’s what happens after we get to the port Allen area etc…

Yeah. I just hate the thought of my house being unattended and exposed to the elements if we have a breach in the roof. We also have two cats at the boarder but actually they are probably better off there. We are just supposed to pick them up today. Hopefully they won’t have a problem keeping them a little longer. We will need to find a place to stay tonight.

If anyone has any info on i55 south from Jackson into New Orleans I would appreciate it. I need to get back to start work at hospital tomorrow. I'm coming from Monroe.

This is what I-10 looks like right now in Ascension Parish:

That's not far from the Pelican Pointe exit.

The storm is in south MS going straight up I-55 right now towards Jackson, so you’ll need to wait till it passes Jackson before you can know anything.

Anyone know if you can access 22 or 445 in Pontchatoula? Maps are unclear.

As of 11 last night, 445 and 22 were closed in multiple areas due to trees/powerlines according to action news 17.

I have a feeling Hwy-90 by Morgan City isn't going to be pretty.

Coming in from Houston. Found a spot in Franklin. Doesn’t sound like they got it bad.

And word on road issues between Lafayette and Franklin?
