Not inherently, but most DO schools are for profit, and would attract out of state students not interested in staying in LA (which one would think would be the goal).

From what I understand the medical school campus would be under the LSU umbrella, closely associated with the New Orleans campus. Sounds like it will be research-focused.
I didn't hear anything about them planning an Osteopathic campus in particular though. Interesting development if that's the case.

You know nothing about medicine if u think telemedicine is the future. For crappy healthcare maybe. Also, it is a waste of time to piddle around with engineering while in medical school. And you don't need special skills outside of medicine to do telemedicine.

Those new north-south road options would all be nice if they happen. Has Essen been under construction or expanded in the last 2 years?

Essen is under construction now. The others will be done because the city, LSU, OLOL and BR General want it. It will take time but it is a good thing for this city. With or without the LSU campus and I believe it will happen as well-as it is being designed to compliment NO and Shreveport not compete.
Good things are happening in this city and people should learn to appreciate it for what it is. It has problems, like all cities and not every concept comes through but some people are putting some thought into the future. I hope the people will support these initiatives.
This health district will probably be a tax district for a funding stream.
And Children's Hospital is not under construction yet.

My mistake there. Meant private, and not "for profit". Besides Michigan State and VaTech (which I think is more of a partnership with another university), I can't think of many public DO schools. My main point was that years 1-2 can probably be done where they already have med school infrastructure (gross anatomy labs, classroom) in NOLA and Shreveport. You could shift the 3rd/4th year rotations for 50 students each from NO/Shreveport to BR and eliminate the BR rotations for LSUHSC-NO students). Basically add 50 students to each entering class, and not have to build a whole new med school. It would make sense to at least start that way, instead of building a whole new med school from scratch. My main fear is that LSU doesn't have the budget for that, Tulane wouldn't be interested, and they would then give the opportunity to a random DO school to set up a campus, or even a private school affiliated with Oschner.

They selfishly decided that they needed to be the new charity hospital, so instead of renovating the Earl, or building a new one in NBR, they drug all of the crime and riff raff that had been more isolated to the north to the middle of the city.
Since then OLOL has gone to absolute shite. No one with insurance should ever want to go there

This is Baton Rouge. Some developer with stroke on the city council will get midway to stop halfway so they can land a single entrance condo neighborhood or apartment complex.

If it wasn't for BRAF IBM, Water Camous, Nicholson corridor, Health District, City Park lakes rehab and many other things would never have happened or will happen.
It is not your money so why complain? If you read the article they specifically said gondolas were a bit out there and we're just brought up recently. They have foresight and money and they put it where their mouth is.

For starters there is already a biomedical engineering program at LSU that's in partnership with the Health Science Center. Not all MD's go into patient practice. Many end up in R&D.
Not to mention specific medical programs like radiology are often EE undergrads with their MD.
