Seems like they would have googled the artist given that the name is so prominent on the painting. Hope it brings some $ for you.

If it's worth $5-$10K are you gonna sell it?

Not right away, maybe when my daughter goes to college. I actually like the painting, that’s what led me to it in the first place

If you can get that now, then you should probably sell and invest the money until she’s going to college. Could get more of a return that way instead of hoping for it to appreciate.

Either way, good find

If you hadn't been so overly eager to get the painting, you probably could have gotten away with it. Bad move on your part.

Not sure what you mean, I got it for $125. I didn’t want to risk getting $12.50 discount, and the guy telling the dealer it’s a painting, not a print.

I mean, his name is on the painting.

I don't have the time or the inclination to go down a Google hole looking up an artist if I'm not otherwise interested. The painting does nothing for me.

Just wanted to hear from antique as to why he was drawn to it.

You would think. But it was poorly framed and the glass was cracked. With it under glass, it looked like a print, not a painting.

Gotcha. I thought you meant that he refused to sell it to you for that price after realizing it was a painting.

Then yeah, from what I'm reading about this guy, congrats on the find.

I decided to look in some of the antique shops. I usually don’t like them, it’s just over priced junk by some old lad

Are you certain that's not a numbered lithograph or some such?

A lot of artists have become really crafty glazing over a giclee and making prints look damn good.

Good find if legit. Is it numbered?

Someone needs to get on their Alter account and make a post about how you own an antiques shop and scammed some schmuck who paid $125 for something he thought was a painting but is really a fake you bought on Ebay for $3.50.

Just heard back from the studio a few minutes ago. It is an original. The canvas is older than 1962 because of the date on the back (no zip code).

I replied back to them, asking value and age. They said it’s an original because of the writing on the back, in the artist’s own handwriting.

My mother almost tossed a small painting that had been hanging in the kitchen into a Goodwill donation pile, something she had picked up at a flea market for a few dollars. I did a quick Google of the artist and it turned out his little paintings are worth hundreds to thousands of dollars each. Back on the wall it went...
