Neither is anything else he does a top 10 list for, but we haven't let that stop us yet.

Update on my research of this painting:

I finally heard back from the artist. He said my painting is from around 1975, and was during the time of “designing the spirit of Hawk.”

Basically saying this Hawk paint is a VERY early painting of Hawk, the equivalence of having a very early Blue Dog.

It has not sold yet at $4000. What I don’t understand is his prints sell for $2000+. I have talked to the artist. He remembers painting this painting in the mid-70’s.

Sounds like a scam. This Hawk guy is a big deal and this is supposed to be an early original before Hawk became a big deal. The value on something like that would be huge.

You should feel bad stealing from an honest merchant.
So the OP put the painting under his coat and walked out?

The item was openly displayed for sale, the seller had ample time and opportunity to research the item and chose not to.

I don’t remember from the OP if the price was marked on the item or not but if not, once the merchant gave a verbal or written price, that’s ballgame, Teddy.

Yes.

It took me 19 years to even break the $1000 mark on a single item. I did that last year on a hand carved Italian chess set. I paid $500, sold it for $1600. I’ve come close to the $1000 mark many times, but never broke it. Now I have made $1000’s off buying collections, but none of those collections had a single item go over $1000.

I had a Kentucky Derby glass go for $950 or so, paid $10. A comic book go for $950 or so, paid $1. I probably had at least a 100 items go over $800, I paid less than $100 for each, many under $10.

Need to get you with my 20yr old son. He loves doing the same thing as you, but his main thing is vintage clothing. He digs through the bins at the local Goodwill outlet and he finds old concert t-shirts, red label levi's, old air jordan's, hats, etc... Funny thing is, they charge him by the pound so the profit margin is insane. He has sold several items for $1500+.

His best find to date is an original 1954 Coca Cola tin sign that he found by digging through a box of signs at the local flea market a couple months ago. He said most were remakes, but this one stood out for some reason. He gave $10 for it. We have verified it is an original and have explored it's value. The pic below is same sign sold at Barrett-Jackson auction.

The studio overvalues their work? Surprising

Ask them if they want to buy it back for $7500

Uhh… no thanks
