I doubt the painter is going to buy back his own painting.

That's silly, of course he would. He knows his own market. If he has a buyer at $10k then why wouldn't he?

Be careful. "Playing dumb" is called fraud in the real world. I hope the antique shop doesn't see this post.

What’s stupid or fraud, paying the price that’s hanging from the price tag? They even offered me a possible 10% discount, I declined.

Sorry (not sorry) they couldn’t do a 5 minute Google search on the artist.

Since they had it marked at $125, that means they probably paid $50 or less at a garage sale or auction. Was it wrong for them to buy it at that price?

The shop had a ton of signed George Rodrigue prints (Blue Dog guy, if you don’t know). They were way over priced, $300-$800 each. If they gonna deal in art, they better learn to research. It took me 30 minutes to realize it could be valuable.

That's a great find for the price for sure.

However, it looks like it's not hard to buy an original from this artist, and many of them have reduced prices from not selling.

Aldo Luongo - Art for Sale

You'll flip it for more than what you paid, no doubt, but I can't see anyone paying $7500 for what looks to be one of the simpler pieces done by this artist.

Considering that he is dead, that would be kind of hard to do. It’s his studio, run by his daughter, that I’m talking to. They sell his originals and prints.

I'd say, IF you can get $7500 today, you better fricking sell it.

Wait 6 months, and it will be kindling.

I have no clue who he is.

I was only implying they gave you a valuation not what they'd pay you for.

If you look at the link, all his pieces have prices except the ones with Hawk (the guy in the painting). There is one Hawk painting on that link, it’s listed for $11,500. All others are “contact for price”. Plus, those are from the 80’s. Mine is most likely from the 60’s or earlier, from dating the canvas. So it’s an early Hawk painting.

I wish I had known about that website about 10yrs ago. I was given a couple of G. Harvey signed and numbered limited edition prints that I never used but moved around with me for years. I wanted them out of my garage so I sold them on Craigslist for $200-300. Looks like they were worth $1,400.

I understand value and true money, I’ve been doing this for 20 years. If they buy it, they gonna list it for $7500. Probably give me 50% for it

Yes.

It took me 19 years to even break the $1000 mark on a single item. I did that last year on a hand carved Italian chess set. I paid $500, sold it for $1600. I’ve come close to the $1000 mark many times, but never broke it. Now I have made $1000’s off buying collections, but none of those collections had a single item go over $1000.

I had a Kentucky Derby glass go for $950 or so, paid $10. A comic book go for $950 or so, paid $1. I probably had at least a 100 items go over $800, I paid less than $100 for each, many under $10.
