Imagine you were trying to solve a problem, and you were trying to do it in a way that was harmful, and it was harmful for a reason that everyone else knew, but you just happened to not know. Maybe you were trying to clean and you mixed two chemicals. You're trying to do one of the most basic household chores and she tells you not to mix two cleaners.
Might you feel embarassed? No? It doesn't matter because it isn't about how you might feel in that situation, it's about how she feels and it's your job to know your wife and her emotional needs.
You sound like a pleasure.

Sympathy or Solutions
the majority of the time, Sympathy/Support is the way to go. just nod and listen and say you understand/agree. Solutions come later (if ever)
This must be a universal thing with wives/girlfriends. I immediately want to offer solutions when all she wants me to do it listen. But it's so painful because I have a natural inclination to fix things.
quote:
with my wife I can just ask, “do you want sympathy or solutions right now”
I'm going to use that going forward. Wish me luck.

Never respond to a wife complaining. Nod and smile only.

Can’t recommend this enough at the start of a conversation.

"Vent, it is."

Before a woman can focus on solutions, they have to vent out their emotions. They want you to listen and react emotionally to validate their feelings so that they can be confident that they reacted appropriately. This is because men and women process emotions and compartmentalize experiences differently. It’s always a good idea in a relationship to communicate with your partner so that both of you are on the same page about when you need to vent vs when you need a solution. This will prevent future missteps.

I’ve read this whole thread yet I still get downvoted when I say women shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
It’s incredible that we leave the gate of the free world to a bunch of emotionally driven people who seem to think logical thinking is the devil’s work

I assumed she would absorb the brilliance of Oldmanbeasley through sexual osmosis over time.

The BEST question to always have ready, “Honey, do you need an ear or an arm?”
