This lady was a driver?

Tell you what. Take your financed car and go drive for one and report back when you’re in the black.
I average $35 an hour with Lyft part time. I'm well in the black, especially given that I would be paying for the car I use regardless.

I check both and use whatever’s cheaper.
Needed a ride from LGR to my apartment, Lyft was 2x as much as Uber. Uber it was

This has always been my question. I know the drivers don’t carry additional policies and I’m not sure about Uber. So if I’m involved in an accident with major injuries while riding in an Uber who is in the hook?

While a rider is in your car
When a rider is in your car, you have the same coverage as you do on your way to pick them up, plus the rider in your car is covered. You are covered by our insurance policy for three things: 1) your liability to a third party, 2) any injuries due to an uninsured or underinsured motorist, and 3) collision and comprehensive coverage if you already have such coverage on your personal insurance.
Third party liability coverage
This insurance covers your liability for damages to any third party such as the rider(s) in your vehicle, another driver, pedestrian, or property in case of an accident when you’re at fault. The coverage amount is at least $1 million of total liability coverage.
Uninsured or underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage
This insurance covers any occupant of your vehicle in case of an accident where another party is at fault but does not have insurance or is underinsured. This also covers hit and run accidents where the at-fault party can not be identified. The coverage amount is $1 million of total coverage for bodily injury.
Contingent collision and comprehensive coverage
This insurance covers your vehicle in case of an accident whether it was your fault or not, as long as you maintain auto insurance that includes collision coverage for that vehicle while not on an Uber trip. The coverage amount is up to the actual cash value of your vehicle. There is a $1,000 deductible.

I use Uber because their receipts upload directly to my account in Chrome River. Makes expense reporting seamless and easy.

they're pretty much the same but in my experience I've found Lyft has had larger vehicles more readily available. Granted that's a situation very specific to one particular location so it's not a universal issue most likely. But in the past when I've needed a large SUV for 6+ people lyft has been the choice. Other than that I just always use uber out of habit.

I prefer Lyft because it syncs with my Delta Skymiles and I get a mile for every dollar spent on Lyft.
It’s not a lot but it’s free miles.

What’s your average cost of gas per hour when you’re driving?
Posted on 5/28/18 at 9:59 am to TigerBR1111
I use a Prius, so less than a gallon per hour. Usually more like half a gallon.

lyft is normally cheaper.
the actual riding experience is pretty much the same.

Always had better experiences with Lyft. It seems that most of the cab guys went to Uber. With Lyft it seems that you get normal people who are trying to make a few extra bucks with their free time. I think they pay/treat their drivers better as well. I’m sure you’ll get a lot of crossover between the two but that has been my experience anyway.

both the same. use the one that is cheaper when you're requesting a ride
This is what I do.

Lyft pays a higher rate to drivers in Dallas. Last I talked with drivers using both it was 20% Lyft cut and 25% Uber cut.
I prefer Lyft cars...have had some crappy Ubers in recent years.

I can't get the Uber app to work on my phone, so I just use Lyft. I've never had a problem with it or their drivers.

Used Uber 2-3 times a day while at Disney World this past week. Can’t say enough good things about the service. Wait times for a ride averaged about 5 minutes and all drivers were friendly with clean cars. Cost was about $7 a trip, with the ride to the airport being $30 (taxi charged me $70...so frick them). Spent about $125 for the week and never had to wait for a ride to and from places. Was well worth the expense.
I’d never used Uber before, but I will now. Some of the drivers explained to me how it worked and it’s defijitely hard to make a living driving for them. Uber takes $3.80 immediately off the top, and then another 25% while the driver gets 75% plus tips.
They also all drove for Lyft as well. Said Lyft was a little cheaper than Uber, but it’s the same basically for the drivers.

They're literally the exact same. I drive for both.
Used Uber 3 times about a month ago, every single time the Uber car had a Lyft sticker on it.

Uber has insurance and I drive for them. I have an additional protection through my insurance that I pay for but covers me when my app is on (waiting for trips). Uber only covers me when Im ON a trip.

You should pay attention to the fine print for insurance. Your own insurance won't cover you if you get into an accident while driving for lyft or uber. Even once you check the app to look for passengers in your area your coverage changes. For example, the policy that lyft uses for its drivers has a $2500 deductible. It's the kind of thing that can catch a person off guard. Just a heads up.
