They landed hard and long. Go arounds happen all the time. LAX can be a handful in a cross wind off the mountains

I’m pretty sure no one is flying 747s with passengers n them anymore. They are all cargo.

That fact makes me sad, flying first class on the queen was about the only perk of international travel.

There are live plane watching channels with talking heads? Youtube will make you a millionaire
If I had known that this was a thing, I would have set up video cameras facing the MSY East-West runway for the last 15 years that my office was a few hundred feet from the runway. I’ve witnessed touch and gos like this, countless aborted landings, Air Force One coming and going, V-22 Ospreys flying right over my head, F-16s on afterburner and more. I should have tapped into the aircraft nerd video watching market, instead I just worked and did not become a millionaire.

I’ve been a part of a few aborted landings and one aborted takeoff.

The aborted takeoff was way more scary.

Seems like 99.99999999% of the landings would be uneventful. Just another plane landing.

Although I watch videos of hydraulic presses crushing shite.

I thought they all quit on the old girl.

May have to go to Germany just to ride Lufthansa 1st on a 747 one more time.

This happened to me on a L1011 landing in Nola, but wasn’t that rough. Wheels down for a few seconds then took right off again. Captain came on and said in his deep, soothing Lyle Wagoner voice “Well folks, we didn’t have all our minimums just right, so we’re gonna come back around and do it again.” In other words, we didn’t want to have to cross all four lanes on airline highway to stop.

The narrators have been doing this a while. Many of the pilots heading in and out of LAX watch their channel. Sometimes a pilot that landed yesterday will show up as a guest commentator the next day on his day off. The pilots also know where these guys are set up and will wave at them or signal with their lights as they’re taxiing down the runway.
