Never had a building named after him at LSU. He's on a small plaque on a stone near the clock tower though.
I say we paint over it.

He did so much more than support legal segregation in a letter to Texas.
BLM was basically calling for segregated safe spaces several years ago. Shouldn't they and the Democratic Party and Planned Parenthood be disowned if we use past conversations or views on race or segregation? Better yet let's erase LBJ's presidency including the voting rights act, other Civil Rights legislation, and his war on welfare (that might actually be helpful though) because of his known views on race in his past.
Middleton deserves a better library or building. He continually answered the call when his country, state, and LSU asked him to serve. He also truly battled fascists unlike those fake anti-fascists - antifada - who compare themselves and their actions to soldiers storming the beaches in WWII.

The letter goes on: "Our Negro students have made no attempt to attend social functions, participate in athletic contests, go in the swimming pool, etc. If they did, we would, for example, discontinue the operation of the swimming pool."
Middleton’s letter concludes this way: “Since we have not had a Negro request that he be permitted to participate in athletics, we, of course, have not had to make a decision. If one should apply between now and February 1, 1962, (date for my retirement), I think I could find a good excuse why he would not participate. To be specific — L.S.U. does not favor whites and Negroes participating together on athletic teams.”

Context dude. It's real easy to say that in 2020. He wrote that in 1962. Culture was WAYYY different nearly 60 years ago.
