Thus state is so crooked

Create demand by forcing them to live on campus, charge ridiculous amounts of money for it then build more housing to fill a demand that only exists because you created it

This is almost $180k per student. Small houses with 3 bedrooms are $13,200 from Amazon. 300 of those to house 1200 students would be around $ million, plus the land and set up costs.

1. Again, damn imagine being this dumb
2. It’s evidently not just a dorm, not super clear on what all the project involves, but more than just these two dorms. That’s just the headline

Fun fact: LSU had 57,000 applicants for the 2025 freshman class and accepted 7500. Pretty cool.
7500 ultimately enrolled. They accepted far more than that.

That's a 13% acceptance rate, which is about on par with Tulane, maybe even lower. In recent years, LSU has been closer to about 75-80%.

215 million? There is absolutely no way it actually cost that much.

It’s a college dorm, not a 5-star hotel.

Are they closing all other dorms after building this?

Over a 50 year minimum expected life.

I did. I had pulled the data from LSU Board of Regents and LSU website.

I failed to take into account this was total enrollment: LA Regents

Here is also the last data I saw from LSU pulling those undergrad numbers for 24 LSU website

That's crazy $$ for 1,200 beds.

That is 180k per student. Not counting inflation, on going maintenance costs, and interest, LSU would break even charging about 6K per year over 30 years.

LSU already charges 6,800 to over 10k a year depending on living arrangements.
