In Louisiana, by law, you can essentially opt out.

LA RS 17:170

quote:

A.(1)(a) Each person entering any school within the state for the first time, including elementary and secondary schools, kindergartens, colleges, universities, proprietary schools, vocational schools, and licensed day care centers, at the time of registration or entry shall present satisfactory evidence of immunity to or immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases according to a schedule approved by the office of public health, Louisiana Department of Health, or shall present evidence of an immunization program in progress.

However the really important part.

quote:

E. No person seeking to enter any school or facility enumerated in Subsection A of this Section shall be required to comply with the provisions of this Section if the student or his parent or guardian submits either a written statement from a physician stating that the procedure is contraindicated for medical reasons, or a written dissent from the student or his parent or guardian is presented.

Downvote away, its the law. Not like that means anything in 2021, but its still the law.

Wonder what's going to happen when he realizes this will disproportionately affect black students. I was told such policies, regardless of intention, were inherently racist.

I'm 20+ years removed from college, but back in the 90s, we had to show proof of other vaccines and booster shots for enrollment...I think tetanus, meningitis, whooping cough, MMR, ..

I'm almost positive that requirement was done away with or there were so many exemptions that it was essentially moot

If a mandate for the University does occur, you have to wonder what type of measures they'll have in place for fans attending football games at LSU. Require proof of vaccination or a negative test?

So, how is this different from the current vaccine policy? LSU already has a vaccine mandate. It IS still in effect. All you have to do is fill out an opt out form. I don't agree with mandates of any kind, but it's not like this is "new". You have to submit vaccine records or sign a waiver already.

The big issue is all the suckers who paid their tuition during COVID> Now the university is wiping out all student debt from those semesters. Why does anyone bother to pay their bills for anything these days?

That would make FDA approval meaningless
Its just a rubber stamp anyway.

What were they going to say?

"Wait guys, we don't approve what millions of you have already got, try cutting yourself and sucking it out"

My kid is trying to figure out how to opt out. She is the picture of health and there is NO reason for her to get except to make other feel better about being around her.

Anyone know how the random unvaccinated student testing is going?

It says LSU and UL system students who are unvaccinated will be randomly selected to be tested this semester. My question was how do they know you’re unvaccinated?

This will apply to students, faculty, and staff, though a very high percentage of faculty and staff are already vaccinated.

I doubt it. Those requirements are still in place in most places.

It is very normal for a university to require FDA approved vaccines for a number of diseases.

If y'all are upset about this, don't be angry with Tate. Be angry with the Board of Governors who clearly knew he was going to take this stance and put him in power anyways.

In order to attend classes you have to show LSU proof of vaccination or a negative covid test taken no longer than 5 days before you show up on campus. If you don't get vaccinated you have to get re-tested every month I think
