I would probably agree with this if the fraternities actually showed any self responsibility.
But between the huge fights every week and never bothering to cleaning up after themselves I have a hard time feeling sympathy for them.

At what point does a group of guys and their dates become a party, especially before a game? Folks hanging out in their place of residence along with some friends...is that going to require a security guard?
I am sure LSU is thinking up ways to round up these "unregistered groups" so that they become compliant with whatever ridiculous rules they come out with next.

When they continued to trash the Parade Ground.

I'm aged out of the Greek scene on the parade grounds for the most part, but that was one of my favorite things to show people who had never been to Baton Rouge for a game. They couldn't believe the party atmosphere right in the middle of campus.
It’s a relatively new thing, I was around in 008/09 when everyone started to move there. For the longest time it was basically just a MIP check point so frats were scattered around campus.
By 2010 everyone had moved there and it was too big to police, it was just treated as a Hurd. You get carded if you walk away with a drink but if you stayed into the tent it was largely ok. It got bigger and bigger then turned into a complete shitshow.
Most frats would have preferred to be back in house, without the third party rule like the old days.
The funny thing is that LSU thinks they are going to be able to sell pre-built tailgate spots on the parade ground as if it’s a good place to tailgate. Anyone with any money is tailgating on the mounds or in a RV lot. The grounds are largely a shitty place to tailgate for all things but space

This took a long time coming but its been in the works since the West Virginia game many years ago.
At the time, waste management at LSU wanted to implement an excess litter fine for all the couches and trash cans poured out. There was a lot of resistance from higher up as it would be targeting frats. They tried talking to the frats and I posted a message here about setting up a meeting on campus for everyone open to the public to talk about it but was met with a lot of resistance on here. Many didn't want to blame any particular frat or afraid their space on the parade grounds would be taken away.
They changed rules several years ago and now this is the final result.

I don’t know how it is for every SEC school but when we went to Alabama last year all of the tailgating/partying was done at frat houses. But their frat houses are literally across the street from their stadium. You can see it from the front yard. LSU isn’t set up that way.

Being back at the houses will be better for everyone.

Fun fact, it's no longer named Nicholson Extension.
(forgot the new name, but I noticed the change on my way to class today)

No they are not. That is a new area over by the new business school.

Scroll down to locations. If you don't think this a test run in 2018 that will spread if it goes well....I'm not sure what to tell you. BlockParty

From what I've heard, this bullshite is a way to appease LSU for a little while until the Greek alumni can put together a plan to kick F. King & Friends to the curb.

I have no personal interest in these corporate setups but with the space at PFT, they aren't taking over any existing tailgating locations and the Parade Ground is big enough to handle a few rows of these tailgates as well.
They'll never be as popular here as they are at some other SEC schools given LSU's traditions around tailgating and the fact that BR is large enough that a significant number of fans attending each game are "local" and don't have an issue setting up their own tailgate.

If you don’t think that King and Alleva want to figure out a way to charge to tailgate you are a fool. Close friend was in a meeting with them when it was stated that they consider everyone who comes to campus but not to the game “lost revenue” and that they want to figure out how to capture that $$$.

He's right. They cause wear and tear, take up parking space and security resources, and contribute nothing. It's a pet peeve of mine that LSU provides a free fall festival 6 or 7 weekends a year for the dregs of the Greater Baton Rouge metro area. Look around. There are a lot of people who are pure trash. I wouldn't mind a little gatekeeping at all.
