Nearly 15 years later, Greek Life tailgates are moving back to their original homes in the chapter houses. The Task Force’s recommendation calls for all fraternity tailgating to move back to the chapter houses and requires full compliance with PS-78, including security and procedural adherence requirements. PS-78 requires fraternity parties at the chapter houses to hire third-party vendors and security. The fall 2018 tailgates will have uniformed police officers to maintain order. The Interfraternity Council leadership has negotiated to lower the number of security officers required at tailgates to minimize the costs.

“Going back to the houses is the safest way to have a tailgate,” Interfraternity Council President Christopher Dupre. “It provides air conditioning. It provides the opportunity to have catered food and things like that. It also discourages wild, rampant, random parties on campus. It creates a safe environment for everyone and helps build a new culture.”

And LSU figures out a way to get their cut from tailgating.

I wasn't in a frat, but I'll be the first to say that they're really doing that Greek system dirty with these dumbass rules.

We started moving the tailgates from the houses in the 2000s because they didn't want us drinking in the house. Now they push them back into the houses.

Then why are they allowing fans to tailgate on the parade grounds?

They are slowly renting those spaces out. Within five years, I guarantee you that entire area will be leased for tailgating. They are using some company that provides chairs, tent, tables..And it's not cheap. This season it's only a small area cordoned off. But I guarantee you they are breaking it in slowly so there aren't pitchforks and hell raising about it. In 5 years, that entire area and Tower/Dalrymple/Indian mound area will be lease only.

I'm aged out of the Greek scene on the parade grounds for the most part, but that was one of my favorite things to show people who had never been to Baton Rouge for a game. They couldn't believe the party atmosphere right in the middle of campus.

Pearl clutchers are going to pearl clutch.

Who would have thought that treating 18 year old adults like children would encourage childish behavior?

This is why students need to stop formally organizing greek life on campus. Its not worth the nanny state, or the red tape and not much of a benefit.

I'm a Greek alum myself. But it was a shitshow.

Well if the greek system would stop being such a huge liability to LSU maybe they could give them more leeway. But the hazing shite has to stop or eventually the greek system will be eliminated.

The real problem started when the drinking laws went from 18 to 21. Ever since then LSU and its students have had trouble coping.

That said the case for a 21 year drinking age has much more to do with money and politics than student health.
