Doubtful. Grade inflation is a big issue. Those 3.0 GPAs from 20-25 years ago are now 4.0 in a lot of schools. More than half the students don’t even submit an ACT because they can’t score high enough - despite there being way more resources to prepare than before.

Good point. And the average scores that these schools report today are greatly inflated due to test-optional policies.

LSU did away with test optional last year. Now, they still have "holistic" admissions which introduces other factors into the consideration for admittance.

Still shows test optional on their site.

This is where the circus is coming from. Probably half of the “test optional” crowd would have scored so low as to be a ding against them. And, since they’re DEI admits - they’re probably getting tuition paid outside of TOPS anyway (Pell Grants and other BS welfare giveaways).

As long as you have some method to pay for your freshman tuition, you are more than welcome to come on in!

You're from out of state and willing to pay out-of-state tuition? Well then you are definitely welcome to come on in.

I received Pell Grants back in the day, and taxpayers got an extremely high ROI on that particular investment in me. I’ve paid it back many, many times over.

Yes or blinded by fandom. His true colors are showing based on current enrollment decisions that allowed people into the school who won’t make it to midterms. He’s a POS.

She’s a perfect example of why LSU is over capacity now. They’re admitting anyone and everyone nowadays. It’s fricking disgusting.

It’s like hyperinflation of your degree.

I would be very interested to know LSU’s student makeup demographics if anyone has that info.

LSU does a report every year you can google. It’s actually very well detailed and broken down.

All they want now are out of state students for the extra money. They even got rid of the alumni parent out of state tuition program to take in even more since a big part of their graduates move out of state. Catering to and driving up out of state student numbers has ruined the culture at southern universities.

Agreed and I say this as a student who came from out of state 2012-2017. Even then it was like 80% in state students. Almost all of my friend were from all over the state and it was wonderful to integrate into the culture.

You go to Alabama at that time it was less than half from in state so the culture had eroded severely.

This. And it's still cheaper to out of state students from the northeast or mid Atlantic than attending a college more local to them.

LSU always had a lot of Texas kids. But today there are also a lot more there from the midwest and northeast. Students from the northern part of the US are a big reason that SEC schools like LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and A&M are all bursting at the seams. Those kids want a good experience and a reasonable educational value for the dollar, and they find that very easily in the SEC schools.

LSU has built a lot of student housing and classrooms in the past decade, but they need to build more still if this trend is going to continue. Right now they have a massive health sciences building under construction and they are about to build a giant student housing building on the south side of campus.

Enrollment right now at LSU's Baton Rouge campus is around 42,000. They are clearly expecting enrollment to grow beyond 45,000 in the next 5 years, which is an astounding number to those of us that graduated 20 years ago. I never thought it would get beyond 33,000 or so. A lot of these new students are paying full out of state tuition too, so they are lucrative - helping fund expanded staffing, more professors, and more classrooms and dorms.

Baton Rouge and Louisiana seriously need to invest in the road and transit network around LSU. And I think it's definitely the right time for that new arena and those new classroom and labs to be built.

Their building on surface lots spree over the past few years has probably eliminated at least 1000 to 2000 parking spots easy.

At what point do we start hard core auditing and firing/filing charges against people for utter mismanagement of public funding?

From what I hear, the accounting at LSU is so opaque and disjointed it’s impossible to audit without an army of CPAs and a special legislative appropriation.
