In response to the death of a student who pledged a fraternity last fall, LSU is recommending widespread changes to the Greek Life system including prohibiting hard alcohol at all parties, putting guest limits on parties, adding adult supervision to pledge events and giving amnesty to students who report medical emergencies.

One of the other major changes — and one that topped the wish list for the parents of Max Gruver — will be increased transparency about what goes on at the fraternity and sorority houses. LSU will maintain a website that allows the public to see which organizations have received a disciplinary sanction for a period of five years. The site is expected to also give details about the incident that led to the infraction, said Rob Stuart, a Baton Rouge businessman and LSU alumnus who led the task force.

Other recommendations in the report included requiring all fraternity houses to have a house manager, also sometimes called a "house mom," limit pledge activities to two months, require all fraternity tailgating to be housed at the individual fraternity houses — rather than the campus Parade Grounds where it's traditionally been hosted — and ban alcohol from all pledging and new member activities.

LINK to the shitty Advocate website that barely works.

We already do this but that sucks for the sorority row fraternities

This was pretty much already a rule I believe. Most people just keep alcohol in their rooms and go back and take shots or refill a flask. Doesn't really matter how strict they get, they're gonna break the rules anyways. Telling a bunch of kids who joined a fraternity to get fricked up and have wild parties that they can't do that isn't gonna work.

No. LSU's fight against FREE tailgating continues. Ultimate plan is to charge for space on the Parade Grounds to attract corporate functions. Not rumor, fact. Heard it from someone in the Athletic Department.

tbh the students didn't help themselves out this last football season.

With that being said. LSU admins thinking that they can stop gameday binge drinking is an utter joke.

I like how they said adult supervision.

I wasn’t aware that being 18 no longer meant being an adult is LSU’s eyes

Similar to gun control.

We live in a society where we blame inanimate objects for problems rather than blaming a lack of personal responsibility.

LSU - don’t let this fricking happen.

Whether you are Greek or not, this should be troubling.

That was my favorite one.

And I like how they keep saying they need tailgates at the house yet years ago they got all pissy about them being at the houses and banned that.

Tailgating used to take place at the houses. The Parade Ground "tradition" is only a few years old. Some of the changes are common sense. The no alcohol at parties and abbreviated pledgeship are the big enchiladas.

The big ones should collectively move right off campus and give a big middle finger to LSU

Ding. Ding. Ding. Mass punishment for the actions of a few. My buddy used to call these kinds of actions "unspecified arse chewings" when one guy at work did something stupid and they call everyone in and yell at us.

Who said they think they are gonna stop it? They just have to show the attempt to stop it.
