Sorry… if he ain’t figured it out by now

Math 1550 is freshman calculus that AP students already took in high school.
He's a business major that doesn't want to take basic econ/accounting/finance classes....
Stop wasting your money on advanced daycare.
He should figure out what he wants to do and you should only help with paying for CC or trade school.
This didn't happen out of the blue. He parties too much or just doesn't go to class and is lazy.
He doesn't want to get the business degree you picked for him.

What's his PAWS password?
I'll get him whatever he needs scheduled.

I only read half a page down so this might copy what others have said since then. Classes have started, if he says he's still trying to schedule classes he might not be in school at all. To the rest....
LSU doesn't care if you graduate in 4 years or 8 years as long as you pay and maintain a minimum grade point average. If he is on hold that means he needed to take another class (pre-request)(or he took it without a passing grade) prior to having the class he wanted. If your son is just now taking Business Calc and Econ 2010 he has a few years to go as these are typically Freshmen/Sophomore Business classes. They will only kick him out if he is failing. Seems you might need to have more of a heart to heart with him about his grades and his goals in life.
Good Luck.

He said he doesn’t want to take business calculus with accounting, Econ 2010, and a finance class (i can’t remember which finance it is). The other 2 classes he needs to schedule are required humanities. He wants to take business calculus this summer. So he is being difficult, but he said he will fail it if he takes it with those other business classes. (He got a D last semester & used his exemption.)
“Pop yo titty out the boys mouth and let him grow up”
Your kid sounds lazy, dumb and dishonest. Time to be a parent and make him act like an adult. Quit fighting his battles for him and make him get his shite together.

I’d suggest your son print his degree audit and you can help him find the path to graduation. It’s fairly simple to read. Plus you’ll know he isn’t being fully truthful regarding his current status if he refuses to share it with you

I took all my math classes from BRCC during summer school and transferred them over to LSU so I have nothing to offer other than stop subsidizing his debochary and he will figure it out quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Good to see a scheduling thread around here. Feels like we’re back in 2010. We don’t have college students anymore.
Yeah they have so many options now on social media. Us old farts just us those apps to look at hot chicks. I figured that's what they want anyway right? then come back here to report our findings

I'm sorry but you need to tell him to get the frick over it and take them. He's already been through business calc so he should know what to expect. D isn't a great grade but it's not far from passing.
Business calc and macro Econ are not hard classes. They're just not. If this was thermodynamics and molecular biology then I could understand

I share OP's confusion. Even if you have a 4.0 and the right prereqs, the system will block you from signing up for the classes you need just because you didn't follow some "hurry up" rule?
There is a basic flowchart for a degree. If you don't hit the pre-requisites then you don't proceed. Here's petroleum engineering this year. All degrees still have this and have had it for over s decade. It's as simple as it gets. Pass the class and move on. If you fail calculus 1550 you don't get to enroll in 1552.

I never understood how this could be an issue. It’s soooooo easy to figure out what classes you need to graduate.
100%
When they forced me (as a senior) to see a counselor for the first time she was like "looks like you don't need my help you're on track" and I was like "yeah I'm not a total idiot" in my head. This was approximately 2004 so I'm sure it's 100x easier to understand today. We just had that big book with all the classes and reqs.

OP's been mighty quiet. I suspect there's some terse discussions going on.

When I moved back home, the number of people I met/knew who were basically "college algebra" away from a degree was STAGGERING.

In fairness, LSU is not beyond frickery.
Last week they canceled one of my son's classes that's a requirement for his minor and is only offered in the Spring.

My parents never even knew what classes I was taking. Why are y’all participating in any of this? He needs to go see his advisor and they’ll resolve it. I was in college a few years back and I learned by figuring it out myself.

But that's a specific issue clearly stated in like 12 words.
The dad wouldn't need help from the board explaining stuff to him if the issue was that clear.

It is mind blowing to me as well.
But I didn't take Calculus 1550, I took 1551, so maybe that's why it's so confusing to me. *
*ETA: first semester 7am 5 days a week was not my smartest choice in life, admittedly.

LSU let me substitute another class, being offered, for a required one. 3 or 4 thousand level physics, these things aren’t set in stone. I actually told the professor to go frick himself then walked over to the associate Dean of the college of BS, who taught me a year of E&M, and told him what just went down. He allowed to substitute a class the next semester for the only that a-hole Chinese guy taught…it was fully required and he had everyone by the balls. Luckily I told him to GFH in his office where no one else was listening/watching…because that was the first question the Dean asked.
