Reveille article
LSU's requirements to get in are already easy. If you need an exception to those, you clearly don't need to be in college.

The University admitted 433 students who did not meet the required GPA or ACT scores this fall, 7.5 percent of the incoming class. The exceptions had a 21.3 average ACT score and an average GPA of 2.9.
Of the 433 students, 239 were Louisiana residents. Over 100 of the exceptions are students who did not meet the University’s core high school curriculum. These students alone make up 42 percent of the non-resident exceptions.
Louisiana residents not meeting the University’s GPA requirement accounts for 43 percent of exceptions. In his letter to Reed, Alexander argued that these students may have dealt with personal trauma in high school or challenged themselves academically in ways that may not be reflected in their GPAs.

So you’re saying the rant really is an accurate representation of the lsu fan base?

When I was in college over a decade ago. If you didn’t have the grades to get into LSU you would Goto Bama or Ole Miss.

Why do you hate diversity ? Diversity is the key to success !

I sincerely hope you get hit by a truck full of dildos and one of them bounces off of the back of said truck and fricks you to death.

Probably to fill some sort of diversity requirement.
F'king is all about diversity, which is his sole mission as the president of LSU.

I was at LSU from 81-85, when anybody could get in. Some of my friends had to take "James Bond" classes (005,007, etc) before they could take "real" classes. If the rules were the same back then that they are now, I wouldn't have the same friends.

He’s not wrong though.

Wait so an ACT of 21 and a GPA of almost 3.0 doesn’t get you in to LSU anymore?
Damn 20 years ago in 1998 all you needed to get TOPS was like an 18 and 2.5. Hell it might have been closer to a 2.0.

The idea that you have to go to college to lead a successful life needs to die. These kids are going to end up in mounds of debt and end up dropping out or with a worthless degree and no ability to find a job in their field.
My 17/18 year old self wouldn't have understood this either, but most of these kids would be much, much better off learning a trade, avoiding the debt, and making plenty enough money to live a comfortable life.

I had to use an exception because I did not take an LSU required course in High School, although I scored a 26 on the ACT and had a 3.5 GPA in high school as well as received TOPS. It was a weird situation. I knew I had to take the course to get into LSU, but LSU was not my original plan so I wasn't worried. Then I changed my mind and was in an all out panic. LSU can admit you on a probation exception or non-probation exception. I would imagine most students have a probation, meaning they must meet GPA and course requirements for a set period of time.

But he sorta is. I don’t know what your perception of the military is, but the vast majority of MOS’s require intelligence. Almost everyone I served with (while serving) had a college degree and many had advanced degrees (enlisted). I can’t think of one person I served with that does t have at least an undergrad now.
I know plenty of Ivy League grads in the military and this thought that idiots are infantry is so far off base it isn’t even funny. Sure, there are laundry specialists and cooks, but the vast majority of people in the armed forces are more than capable of graduating from LSU.

Higher Ed is a money grab. Simple as that.
