RIP.
On a related note, I have no clue as to why they killed pretty much all computer labs in this era. They took them from dorms, the union, the library, and Coates. You need to come to school with a laptop now and with the right software package because frick any alternatives. CEBA might be the only relic that maintains a lab

A great major. Real world, practical, and always in need.
I graduated 20 years ago when the program was young and am doing better than I could have ever hoped.
Get the degree, work smart and hard, and you will do well.
IMO, one of the best majors out there.

I was in the business school but I think CM took their classes there

A CM degree with real deal actual construction experience is a really good resume. Maybe a minor in some type of CAD design.

Know LSU is planning on building a designated building for CM in the next few years. Should be near PFT.
This is true. It’s going to be built where the current Military Science & Aerospace Studies building is.

Class of 98. Graduated with 5 other guys. Totally different program now. Its a great practical program. You will use what you learn. It has served me well. Worked for a major O&G operator building their projects for 20 years now. Worked for EPCs before that.

Commercial contracting (2-3 guys in the office, 4-6 guys in the field) is the fastest way to wealth that I know of.
You just described the company I work for. I have a dual/hybrid position doing PM/estimating. We keep about 4-7 regular guys and sub out most of our jobs because we work from the Rockies to the Atlantic.

I’ve done well for myself. Graduated 10 years ago and have had constant upward trajectory

Project management is stressful so you have to prepare yourself for that. If you’re organized and surround yourself with a company of smart people, you’re going to do just fine. You’ll figure out early that no job is perfect, so it’s how you respond to issues that makes things easier for you.
The best project managers have the best superintendents and foreman’s. They drive the bus and I just try to keep the lights green.
Eta: I’m in the heavy industrial sector. Has its pros and cons but pays well and I work for a great company.

Seems like Industrial Engineering would be a better degree for:

There’s some guys in the Lake Charles area from Arkel running jobs who recently graduated from LSU. Once they learn common sense and coordination among trades, they’re really exceptional to work around.

I know a young man graduating in the spring of 25. He's had internships the last 2 summers and just got a job offer in the energy industry.
The offer is a 70k base, company truck and 2500 a month for living expenses. They told him he'll be moving from job to job every 3 months.
