FRANKLINTON, La. (WVUE) - A Louisiana State Police trooper has resigned in the midst of an internal investigation into his handling of a crash over the Easter weekend.
Officials say State Trooper Brett Dupree is no longer employed with LSP, months after working a drunken crash involving now-fired Franklinton police officer Leonard Holloway.
Dupree’s original report said nothing about the presence of alcohol and claimed 23-year-old Seth Klaare was at fault.
Klaare was seriously injured in the crash and taken to the ICU, and Dupree’s report prompted his father to search for surveillance video to clear his son’s name. The footage led LSP to change its initial report, revealing that Holloway was the one who crossed the center line and collided with Klaare’s truck.
“Once I saw the video, I knew that the conclusion from the initial police report was not correct,” Joost Klaare said.
LSP’s second report referenced glass and aluminum cans scattered around the vehicle, including a Miller Light box and a wine bottle. The follow-up report also referenced a sour smell in Holloway’s truck and two tumbler cups on the floorboard. Nine days after the accident, state police carried out a search warrant to obtain Holloway’s medical records, which showed the officer’s blood alcohol content at 0.094% at the time of the crash.
Klaare’s family says they are pursuing federal lawsuits as their loved one continues his recovery.

An adult paid by the taxpayers to uphold the law. Glad the dad went after the truth and found it, hopefully the family is fairly compensated for all costs associated with the accident and the coverup.

Corruption is a MF'er and I would be willing to bet he had the good taste for it for a while now.

Another takeaway from this story is to stay out of Washington Parish.
You’d have to be pretty dumb to not have already gotten this memo, but here it is again.

The Louisiana State Police is beyond corrupt. They should be disbanded. I don’t know when they crossed the line from being a legitimate and honorable law enforcement agency to a corrupt organization, but it’s been in the last 10-15 years.
Another episode of corruption happened this week. A Shreveport city councilman tried to get out of a ticket by flashing a LSP badge. Eventually, State Police Maj. Cordell Williams was forced to admit he gave the councilman a “patch” badge at church.
Neither is facing any further discipline.

The trooper should be charged with filing false public records. He needs to be held accountable financially and criminally. We the tax payers pay for this while they person who caused all of this walks away.
The LSP uniform patrol division needs to be disbanded.

LSP used to be the gold standard but they’re now in more shite than BRPD. You could argue their issues are much more egregious too.

As long as Bogalusa is in Washington Parish, Franklinton won’t be last. Franklinton ain’t great by know means, but it’s better than Bogalusa. How many charging stations for electric car’s are in Bogalusa? Our mayor made sure we have two with taxpayers paying for them, taxpayer money that wasn’t even meant for it. Franklinton and Pine are the only thing Washington Parish has going for it.
