SIAP.. Loyola Law students wrote a letter to JBE urging him to shut down all petrochem facilities in Louisiana and revoke air pollution permits citing exacerbation of symptoms due to air pollution.

Now, we can talk about air pollution, and it makes sense that it could exacerbate symptoms, but what the everliving hell would shutting them all down do? Other than completely unemploy over half of the state.

Loyola Law Letter to the Editor

quote:

We are writing to urge you to immediately revoke the permits for Formosa Plastics in St. James Parish, and to order the safe slow down and shut down of petrochemical plants operating in Louisiana. These major sources of air pollution compound the fatalities of COVID-19.

quote:

We write to call your attention to the alarming human rights violations being suffered by residents of our state as a result of the continued operation of the petrochemical industry in the midst of the devastating coronavirus pandemic. Fundamental rights to life, health, and a safe environment are at stake.

quote:

But you have the power to mitigate the damage of this public health catastrophe. It is time to publicly recognize that toxic air pollution from poorly regulated petrochemical facilities is contributing to the disproportionate mortality rate of Louisianans and take decisive action to protect us. Issue an Executive Order safely halting their operations, at least for the duration of this crisis.

Everyone always trying to one up each other with the shutdowns and cancellations, Loyola law said "frick it we're going all in"

Loyola is going the way of Tulane with the libtard nonsense. Can't stand either at this point.

I hate comments like this. Have you ever been a student at Loyola? I graduated with honors from Loyola and LSU, and Loyola’s a wonderful and academically challenging school.

It was a funny comment in the context. I have several friends who graduated from Loyola and I wouldn't consider any of them stupid. Can't really defend this though and I doubt any of them would either.

EDIT: Spelling

Are you saying the air pollution plaguing this state for decades would just go away overnight if we shut them all down?

And that isn't even mentioning the lost jobs from this.

ETA: I mean the argument is it causes the preexisting conditions. Do those preexisting conditions immediately go away also? It makes literally no sense on any front.

In this thread before somebody works Gordon, Morris Bart, and Dudley Debosier, official injury lawyers of LSU Sports, into the conversation.

Food is, literally, the only industry more important than plastics right now. What a bunch of morons.

They should just shut down everything and arrest anyone who leaves their house. Since those people can't go to jail they should be shot immediately

This is terrible. People who try to justify doing something obviously political under a guise of protection or relief from coronavirus are the worst
