So in a state where you can go to any of the 500 gas station casinos, go spend your entire life savings then visit a lot lizard. Or at a major casino in Marksville, Kinder, LC, Shreveport, New Orleans, etc and ruin your family's entire financial situation. Hell, while you're in New Orleans you can go down to bourbon st. and get an HJ by a crackhead, but we can't play DraftKings?
What's the justification for this?
What's the justification for this?

The state hasn't figured out how to get their cut yet.

Existing gaming lobby.

A curious political alliance between the gaming lobby and the religious lobby that wanted to protect their cut and/or tell people what to do, respectively.

He'd probably ask me how much I can pay him before hearing my complaint.

The casinos and video poker industry have strong lobbies. They don't want you spending your disposable income on fantasy wagering. If you want to gamble (legally), they want your in-state options limited to themselves. A couple years back a legislator sponsored a bill to allow dfs in the state. The bill never got much traction due to the gaming lobby

FWIW , draftkings has been banned for actual money in most states, I think.

It won't allow you to use the website or app if you are physically in Louisiana.

Problem solved. Look forward to the follow up 'out of state gambling income' thread come tax time.

It uses your satellite location from your phone. If you disable the app/site's ability to use your location, it won't let you in a contest.
