I agree it’s overdue….. I’ve always heard that in LA if you are on unemployment and a job calls to go and you refuse then your benefits are done…..

The Federal $300 a week was in addition to the State's weekly unemployment benefits. Will those expire too,or will the non workers continue to get a max of $247 till Sept?

This isn't going to move the needle for understaffed businesses. They need to pay higher wages, not in a feel good way, it is because the market wage is higher than what they are paying. The value of the dollar has gone down much faster than wages have gone up for a long time, and with the historical creation of money it is only going to get worse. Pay more, raise prices to reflect new costs and carry on with your business. Demand is there to support the increased costs.

$246+$300/week is roughly $35k/year before taxes. And that’s not including the additional payment last year and all the stimuli that got sent out.

It’s arguable we paid families of four over $100 grand last year to sit home and do nothing.

Majority Republican Senate
Majority Republican House
Every Statewide elected official is a Republican except the Governor (and before JBE, it was a Republican Governor for 8 years)

Louisiana is anything but “Democrat-led”.

I think this may be what you wanted to say.

Our Republicans aren’t actually Republicans, they are Democrats who changed party affiliation when foster won.
Neither are a lot of the voters. I know a lot of boomers that were former democrats that voted for Trump,Romney, and Bush but also voted for JBE, Edwin Edwards, and Bill Clinton. Louisiana would be a major swing state if it weren't for the abortion issue.

Imagine the money we pay in taxes to give $500 a week food stamps to millions in Louisiana every year. Why aren’t we more upset about this. I want to spend $500 a week on free groceries
