Cathey -

Barrow probably has a better punch but I bet Cathey is armed.

Seems like it struck a nerve b/c she knows it isn't right. Great job by Senator Cathey for having the balls for doing something that needs to be done. I just hate he apologized!

It struck a nerve because Barrow et all have already earmarked that tax revenue for specific grifts, I’m sure.

Hard to fill a $7.5m hole in your budget overnight. Gonna get much harder when St George actually gets instated by the courts.

You should see the great job he's doing going after that evil gas station weed. I'm surprised he had time to fight this battle as well..

South Louisiana always gets the benefits at the expense of North Louisiana, in pretty much everything in this state.
If a rep did enough digging I am quite sure this railcar tax isn't the only tax assessed across the state that ends up solely benefiting South Louisiana. The fact a tax can be collected all across the state and all funding get directed to a single parish is absolutely asinine. How did this ever get approved in the first place?

Baton Rudge vs North Louisiana. The OT is going to be conflicted about this one.

The rest of the GOPers will back down and kill the bill.

50 years means it is likely tied to the new Louisiana constitution from the 1970s.

This tax was probably horse-traded for votes from the BR area members for something.

FIFY. There's some other funneling going on to other parishes that I'm sure will be threatened to be brought up if they back Cathey's bill. Good ol Louisiana politics.

At that moment, Barrow, 56, said she had a flashback to when she was young and fought with others to protect her three younger siblings. Now, she was so angry at Cathey’s disrespect that she was about to charge him, fists swinging.

“What’s going on?” interjected Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome. “I’ve never seen anything like this. Can we have some decorum, please?”

Broome’s words calmed Barrow. Cathey walked away unscathed.

Who’s bringing in a lions share of the revenue?
