Right, I know about shotguns and rifles, but pistols are a little grey.

I know when my nephew was 19 he wanted a pistol to carry in his truck. He’s a very smart and responsible kid so I ordered a pistol on the internet and had it shipped to a FFL and picked it up for him. He swore to me that he had read the law and that he legally could own it although he couldn’t purchase it.

New, fully auto weapons are restricted.

Of course, there ways to get around by modifying a rifle or pistol, but I'd hate to get caught with one.

Here's why I am not for that.

There are plenty of young guys out there, old enough to buy beer, sign up for the military, etc., but have seen too many shoot'em up movies or played too many Call of Duty games.

An intense CC course will make a hot head weigh the consequences of whipping out his piece or worse, actually shoot someone out of emotion. These NRA instructors go through all the laws, penalties, and scenarios pf disregarding common sense rules that can put you in the pokey.

Do I want some 22 year old ding-dong deciding he wants to scare me by displaying?...No! Even though it is illegal to do so, he doesn't know and could likely get himself some jail time or worse, meet up with another loco who puts in in the graveyard.

Thousands of full auto Glocks on the street laugh at this.

Well, at least my football team has had a winning season in the last 5 years.

That seems counterintuitive. Every person I know that wants to carry a weapon has a CC license. I’m not sure how many folks out there are itching to carry but don’t already.

COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Six of Ohio’s eight largest cities saw less gun crime after the state’s “constitutional carry” law took effect, according to a study published today by the Center for Justice Research, a partnership between the office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Bowling Green State University.

Beginning June 13, 2022, Ohio became the 23rd state to allow its citizens to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. In the year following, crime involving guns dropped across Ohio’s eight largest cities as a whole and in six of the eight individually.

While I’m all for constitutional carry, I could see where there might be a case to complete a training class first. And then just link the training to La Wallet like hunter’s safety.

At least it could teach the legality of when to shoot someone and when not to.

Have to take a course to hunt but don’t have to take one to carry a pistol and possibly use it in public… makes sense!

Hard to understand why everyone hadn’t already been carrying daily. frick the government…we don’t need their permission to protect ourselves and our families. Screw legal repercussions…deal with that crap after you protect yourself or your loved ones and the bad guy is dead. I hope this bill passes, if for no other reason it will allow more people to feel comfortable carrying. If every swinging dick in the state was armed, violent crime statistics would plummet overnight. The bad guys should always have to assume their targets are armed also. To be effective, you will need to always carry. You’ll also need to learn how to effectively use your weapon.

It’s not that they may be itching to, but I bet at least some will get the idea to do so if constitutional carry does pass. It wasn’t in their mind before, but could be after and will give no thought to the real responsibility that comes with it.

Maybe now that everyone can be armed, people will stop acting so fricking crazy if there’s a chance they may be shot.

There’s a saying from the film Starship Troopers that has a lot of truth in it: “Violence is the supreme authority”

Fear of opposing violence is what keeps other people in check. If a person wanted to commit a mass shooting, and knew he was in a constitutional carry state with high gun ownership, you can bet that he would be having second thoughts about doing it. If everyone around him was armed and ready to return fire if he shot up a store, he would be put down quick. Or better yet, he wouldn’t even do it in the first place.

The 18-20 year old restriction on handgun purchase is temporary at best, it's been ruled Unconstitutional, 4th Appellate Court, nationwide stay coming with final written order (with a few exceptions for pending cases). Feds will appeal to SCOTUS, and it should be DOA. Basically 18 year olds are considered to be a part of "the people".

Now, SB1 as passed today retains the 21 year old requirement for concealed carry...it could survive judicial scrutiny, but only so long as open carry/possession is not hampered, must be allowed to both keep and bear as the text states.

Agreed and boy would it suck to live in a state that prevents you from carrying what you need to protect yourself from those idiots.
