I left the #2 state for the #1 state. What am I doing with my life?

A lot of those New England numbers are propped up by people moving one state over.
Ex - NH is inundated with Massholes.

Tell them to spend a week in the city in that area again before putting money down on property
They VRBO in that area 2-3 weeks a year right now... Usually 1-2 weeks in the summer, and the week between after Christmas.
They could probably drop $1M on a house in that area.

we are still stuck at either #49 (Thanks Mississippi) or #50 in any positive metric. Boy that really says something about us.

Highest percentage of certain minorities in the country.
Some large cities like Atlanta may get them from elsewhere but home is typically somewhere down here for a lot of them.

Minorities in Atlanta generally have education and money and choose to move there.
It's not 6 generations of welfare queens.

NYC people don’t want to leave NYC unless they are commuting from Connecticut or Jersey. And Jersey is considered to be Livingston Parish to New Yorkers.
Upstate people tend to stay there forever.
NYC gets transplants but a ton of them also move to Florida for retirement which is why Florida’s percentage is so low.

La people don’t leave La. It is a weird cultural phenomenon that always comes up in conversation between those of us who do escape. The state continually gets worse YoY and people think relocating to the next parish will solve the problem.
Really is a weird thing, after finally getting out it’s crazy how you see it’s even worse than you thought while living there then you see the people still there making excuses like you use to

Does anyone read it like this:
Residents are too ________ (poor, ignorant, hypmo-tized, etc.) to recognize the ________(crime, waste, corruption, despair, etc.), and leave?

I rarely see Louisiana plates here in Montana...so we don't get out much either.

La does leave La…people just don’t move there if they aren’t from there.
This is a measure of who lives there now, not who stays.

Yeah 50% of our college grads leave the state. We just don't have much inflow and the state is losing population more years than not.

This. Backwards arse people rarely leave the state or country for vacation much less ever dream of moving from LA.

My eyes never roll harder than when somebody starts talking about how great Nola's culture is.
What's funny is you hear some people talk and talk and talk about how great New Orleans is and it's the most wonderful place on Earth, but they actually live in Mandeville.
