Are we just glossing over this?
Well most of us have read the Bible and are familiar with Samson, so no, we didnt gloss over it. We just know it already.

That statement is total hyperbole and bullshite.
Anti-American?? I served.
Just curious, did you?
Prisoners get what they get. No extra rights. We keep you alive in a cage. That should be the end of it. Deal with YOUR situation and YOUR crimes during all your time to reflect while you are behind bars.
El Salvador treats prisoners the way they should be treated. Prison is intended to prevent crime and serve out there penance. We will strip you of everything else. Including your hair.

This is the shite that lead to the invention of lawyer jokes.

I’d like to “avoid contact with dead bodies”. I guess I’m Rastafarian now. Cool.

If this were the why does El Salvador, which treats prisoners the right way, have the highest incarceration rate in the world?

That might work well for prisoners who will never be released back into society, but incredibly myopic regarding the ones that will. Most people who eschew all attempts at rehabilitation to the point of bending or breaking the 8A don't assign much value to the loss of freedom.
I am not suggesting prison should be a resort, but if you do nothing but cage and warehouse them they will simply be worse when they are released.

Edit. I bet there is a lot missing to this story that will eventually come out.
Correct. This was dismissed at the Motion to Dismiss stage, meaning no evidence can be introduced and the stuff written in the complaint has to be accepted as true.
If the suit gets kicked back, actual evidence will show what happened.

Kinda fricked up. If you need to shave his head then why wait so long to do it

If they cut it off because "frick this guy, I don't like him." Then let's talk.
But I am going to guess there was some legitimate reason and that fact makes the story less click bait. So our unbiased media chose to leave that out.
Legitimate reason: He had a few weeks left on his sentence. They were doing him a favor by making him look at least somewhat respectable for release, so that he can have as good as possible a chance to find a job and become a contributing citizen.
Can't say that I have seen anyone working a real job somewhere with ridiculously long dreads. Add in a recent release from prison and you are not getting a job.

The Founders would have strung you up.

People are making this way more personal than it likely was. The guards didn’t do it to spite him, and they didn’t do it because he was some special risk. As I posted before, some prisons in Louisiana shave the head of every inmate as soon as they walk through the door; some prisons in Louisiana do not. This almost certainly has nothing to do with this guy in particular.

I assumed all state prisons had the same haircut policy

While technically yes, in practice, it’s more complicated. Generally speaking, especially back then (this case is half a decade old), the DOC reg discussed grooming standards in light of cleanliness, security, etc. But because it was non-specific, each prison tended to have its own idea as to how those guidelines should be applied. After a few of these lawsuits, some of those regs have changed and specific exceptions have been outlined, especially for religious reasons.
Local prisons, on the other hand, are still an absolute shitshow

Says they "taker".
You diminishing someones serving make you feel better?
You simply saying irrelevant, doesn't make it so, especially if you EVER DID IT!!
Don't be afraid to "contribute".
I did, and I am incredibly proud, honored and humbled that I interrupted my life to have the experience to be a contributing part of the military of the greatest country in the history of this planet.
Irrelevant?
GFY

How would you know?
Are you an egghead PhD that specialized in the American Revolution, specifically the FOUNDING FATHERS? So you know this to be a fact?
I must have missed your signature on the Declaration of Independence.
Get lost. You aren't a historian and you have no clue. LOL
