That would be a bad idea. The card makes it much easier to track what is purchased. In the stamp days a lot bartering went on using the stamps to pay for drugs (10 dollars worth of stamps for 5 dollars worth of crack or something like that)and then selling those stamps to people for 2/3s of the face value.
Hate to break it to you, but it’s still going on. Women that are getting 1500 to 1600 a month use half and then sell off the other half to people in their hood. They sell them use of the card, just have to give them their PIN number.
This and selling off your extra kids during tax time has been in the hood rat play book for a long time….

Getting to college I worked at a grocery store and it used to be you couldn't use food stamps to buy prepared foods like crab claws, cakes and pies but they changed it over 20 years ago.

Convenience stores shouldn’t even be allowed to accept EBT. 97% of what they sell is junk food anyway and the few non-junk food items like water or milk are way more expensive than the same items at a normal grocery store.

Family of 6 in LA can get $1400-1800 per month. SNAP benefit calculator below. I googled it to see if there was one out there. I need to divorce my wife have her quit her job then go fishing and frick off everyday. We are doing it wrong.

They should do away with SNAP benefits and go to substance living stores. You go get flour, bread, cheese, milk basic meats etc. You get an allotment based on your family size. The SNAP card has taken the stigma away from being food stamps. Caveat to this if you are truly disabled and can’t cook for yourself.
US spent 5.1 Billion FY 2023 on food stamps. That’s up 50.9 from 2020.

You think that’s not happening with the card? Someone gives their card to another person who then goes into the grocery store and spends a $100 from the card. Back out in the parking lot, the card plus $20 goes back to the cardholder. I’m not saying it makes the most financial sense, but it happens everyday.

Yep, every time this topic comes up, I finish the discussion with a question: Who are really the stupid ones?
We push through our lives like worker drones, most to just make ends meet. They don’t work and live on handouts with almost no personal responsibility. It’s sad and disgusting at the same time.

Quite the brush you’re using. So everyone on EBT is lazy and not working and just wanting handouts? Have you ever met people in financial hardships?

C’mon, man, I was basing that on the description that I quoted. That brush.
I’m not one for going back to poor houses and beggars in the streets, but to think that the abuse of the system isn’t as broad as the brush you imply, one would have to be extremely naive.

I know for a fact the Texas folks will agree. There are many productive illegals that we dont want to see go. We should work with those to get them citizenship.

As for your friends and relatives, they seem to have gotten some preferential treatment. Based on your story, you don’t approve of that. Have you reported them?
In the case of my Grandfather I was 10 or so years old at the time and did not realize he was doing anything wrong. As far as the others goes it was close to 30 years ago....I suspect everyone involved is dead. It wasn't as if they were hiding it...it was and probably still is well known.

‘Jizzle6609’ I never thought about DEI hires just being a yes sir, no sir person. Thats an interesting take. You may be right, then the people in power get more power because they never get challenged from their staff.

They give them a Mastercard too they can use for just about anything. Big Macs, etc.
