For those of you who use Dark Sky, it's 100% model based and the company literally has no meteorologists working for them, nor have they ever. It is great for predicting the next hour or so, but when it comes to days in the future, not so much.

Heavy snow/sleet being reported in Deridder. Transition wasn't supposed to have happened yet.

No way that's actually real. Is that being reported by people or some automated system?

It's 41 degrees there right now.

Please no. that traffic circle fidna be the Datlov Pass.

Are there webcams on that thing broadcasting 24/7? That should be great entertainment Sunday and Monday until the power goes out and we all freeze to death.

Speaking of freezing to death, all you people that have central gas heat are going to die, too. If the power goes out, that central unit won't be able to run its blower to heat your house. Space heaters and fireplaces will be king.

Happy ice storm!

Looks like the EURO is giving ground to the GFS. Its ice line has moved down.

I tried telling my brother that yesterday but it was like talking to a brick wall. Then he retorted that he has a gas fireplace. I told him the starter is electric. Again, brand new information to him.

Edit: his gas fireplace is one of those gas log faux fireplace heaters. It has an electric start.
