If you can make it, come on. I got a freezer full of gumbo to heat up! I don't drink since the heart diagnosis, though, so you'll have to byob.

I'd want snow.

Not freezing rain that could cripple the area. I've had enough life altering weather to last me a while.

snow is awesome

heck... even sleet is kinda relaxing to hear it hitting the ground

but freezing rain and ice... frick a whole bunch of that

Well look, to be fair I work from home so I don't have to deal with the roads and my wife is a teacher so she'll obviously be working from home also if this happens. So while I say I want this to happen, it's from a selfish perspective because I won't be directly impacted. I realize this will be a hell of a clusterfrick for most.

my confidence is up to 70-80% that we will see a significant ice storm in the area. It could easily impact all of Central Louisiana. I classify Cenla baws as Rapides, Vernon, Avoyelles, Grant, Sabine, Natchitoches, Winn, LaSalle, Catahoula, Concordia, Beauregard, Allen, Evangeline, and St. Landry Parishes.

They've been very cautious on putting anything in the 7 day forecast. North/Northwest AL is going to be right on the line and is going to be impossible to call until/if it happens. Right now, our daytime temps look to be well above freezing, which helps, but we could see anything left on the roads freeze overnight.

I just knew once we got this thread up to 70 odd pages, we have successfully willed cold weather and ice for our area.
Congratulations, boys, you have now controlled the weather

It depends on the temperature of the layers of air before the precipitation even hits the ground. If there's a warm layer of air sandwiched in there, you're not getting snow. You're getting sleet or freezing rain.

I'm outside of St Louis for work, and it was around 15 degrees yesterday afternoon with a rainy-sleety mix falling. Instantly froze on the ground and car windshield, and it was a mess. Just snow this morning.

So my Dark Sky App says temps in the low 20s Monday into Tuesday of next week.

Yahoo weather app shows 30s.

Any idea what to expect in the Nola Metro area (Southshore)?
