Your P traps will still freeze
I have a hard time ever seeing P traps getting cold enough to freeze here in south louisiana. They inside of your house is still going to easily be above freezing here even if you werent running your heater

I think you are fine here if you just cover your outside spigots assuming you dont have a raised house

You are definitely fine to me if you shut off water main and open faucets

If you are the most nervous frick in the world you could also blow compressed air through your pipes and remove the p trap to drain

But the last is completely unnecessary here

The amount of water left in the pipes is minimal at that point and the pipes will be fine

Every pipe below the lowest faucet will be full of water. Unless gravity doesn't work at your house

Its just one model run. No one expects that scenario to play out. The local reports are not running with the extreme cold because it is so extreme. The pieces are there for it to happen but that doesn't mean it will.

Yeh, and that is all inside your house walls

Exactly how cold do you think the inside near your faucets are going to be here?

Can’t see the gfs solution being totally correct but even some nights in the low teens for north Texas and north Louisiana latitudes could be nasty. Especially with highs at or below freezing. The trend is cold air in some form is coming south.

Birmingham weather guys are still pretty bearish on anything significant.

If living in Birmingham for two decades has taught me anything, it's that most winter weather forecasts don't pan out and to not listen to James Spann no matter what the forecast is. The guy cares about his image/social following first, then accurately predicting the weather 2nd.

Spann is an egomaniac, and I can't stand him, but I'll give him a pass on winter weather. It's extremely difficult to predict in the south, and they all get winter weather forecasts wrong when it comes to snow and/or ice forecasts.

And to his credit he was very humble after he and all the other meteorologists got that 2014 "dusting" so wrong that left so many people stranded.

You would probably wanna fill them back up after a little bit. P traps help keep the smell from coming up through the drains. And there's some nasty shite in the lines that you really don't wanna smell.

Starting to look like 6 consecutive days below freezing in North Texas with at least two rounds of precipitation - ice though light on Wednesday and snow off and on possibly as early as friday through next Monday.

Seems we are in store for two rounds of this cold temperature - began today and is tolerable but nose dives on friday - as in stupid cold

I’m not an expert at all.

But in my experience, your best bet is to split the difference between the GFS and EURO. That still gives us some temps in the upper teens though.

As far as precipitation goes, it would be a total throw in the dark guessing this far out. Any little change in temp and positioning will make a huge difference.

Get it done asap. Central Mississippi has a better chance of this crap that south Louisiana. And south Louisiana appears to have a decent shot at this.
thank you.
