If we got a major ice storm and then temps in single digits with no power it would kill many people here. Lots of people wouldn’t be prepared and many don’t have the money to prepare for something like that.

I remember the 94 ive storm we lived in a rural area and were without power for a long time. I was a little kid 4 years old.

Had to huddle in living room with one kerosene heater, cook everything on the grill and use the grill to heat pots of water so we could have a warm bath.

Was not fun.

I've got a brand new generator that can run everything except my central air/heat. I have some portable heaters and a fireplace with firewood. I'll be fine if the power goes out.

Ive got a generator that could run my deep freezer, fridge, and an electric heater. Of course if it’s below freezing I could run other stuff and just put my freezer items in my yeti coolers and leave it outside

I’ve also got one old gas heater in the bathroom that still works. I’d be ok but it would suck

What makes you think that? If it is, will the forecast start to change little by little?

Yea, so far it does look like it may be starting to get on board. We'll have to wait and see how it finishes.

1053 MB high centered in Iowa is the strongest so far.

Precip will override the cold from the Gulf.

When the Euro and GFS both agree on timeframe and event, it usually has to have two or three runs in agreement before the forecast begins to reflect it. That's my personal observation - no idea if that's an official rule of thumb or not.

They asked the same question. Evidently, if they got everyone the same thing the company got a cut. There were a couple hundred people stranded. Pops hated McDonald's for the rest of his life.

It already came out.

Looks like its trending towards the GFS but still isn't as wild as it or the CMC.

EURO shows some dips into the mid 20s but warms back up for us in S La. No frozen stuff except trace amounts of ice.

GFS cold as balls starting early Saturday into the 20s and dipping into the lower teens until we get back above freezing mid day Tuesday. Freezing rain comes with the cold on Saturday up to 1/4".

CMC comes later with freezing temps Sunday evening keeping most of the lower state frozen until the end of the run Thursday (still in the 20s when it ends). It shows single digits for BR and Lafayette at times. This model also goes mid-evil on our asses with most the state getting some ice and parts up to 3/4". This is why it shows single digits for those areas.

Doesn't matter how bad someone wants winter weather, no one wants the CMC to play out (which is very unlikely).
