How is it DTB rightnow? I'm waiting for Rhoda Faye to give me an update.
I am still at work in Houma. It is cold.
I am not going to enjoy the ride or slide down the bayou once I leave work.

Talk about bad luck. It seems like that was the only house surrounded by a bunch of trees, and the damn thing hit the house.

I got a message from Cleco saying the grid is feeling the strain, and asking people to conserve energy. Some of their suggestions were:
- Postpone doing laundry. Yeah, I can do that.
- Wash dishes by hand and don’t use the dishwasher. Okay, no problem.
- Keep the thermostat set to 68 degrees.

Looking like right above freezing for temps in the morning hovering in the mid 30’s all day for Br. Similar precipitation window as today, moving in at night and wrapping up late morning. A couple degrees colder and we get more ice/snow
Wait for real?

I keep my house at 68 most of the winter. Maybe bump it every once in a while. But we haven’t been over freezing for about a week and won’t be until like Friday. It’s -17 feels like outside so we are bundled up in the house anyway so keeping it a 68 isn’t a big deal.

You can do it- IF you are careful. 3 years ago- mid January, Central Alabama got smoked. I-65 closed at Mobile. Went up thru Spanish Fort, then Atmore, and all the way into the central part of the state. Slow, slow, like very slow. Truck in 4WD and it was generally smooth sailing.
I drove down highway 20 miles today with 6 inches of sleet in 4wd about 45mph no issues

Northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph combined with our frigid temps will create very dangerous wind chills, especially in the warned area where readings will be BELOW ZERO. Further south, wind chills in the single digits to lower teens are expected. STAY INSIDE!!!

Checking in to say that this extreme cold weather in South Louisiana is bullshite, and the past 12 months have been a real test.

Entergy: We request limited electricity usage due to present extreme cold weather immediately, including turning off electric water heaters and lowering heating thermostats settings. Insufficient reductions may require temporary interruptions of electric service. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working to restore our system to normal grid operations as soon as possible.
I just got this text from Entergy. What is going on? They expect us to turn off hot water and turn down thermostat on the coldest night in 30 something years. I don’t think so.
