I just checked the security cameras from my grandmas house in Del Rio and there’s a least a few inches of snow. I’ve never seen this much snow at her house.

Divergence aloft provides lift and enhanced precipitation. This also helps surface lows form. You see that over the W gulf where the low pressure center is going to form. This divergence is going to spread over the lower Miss valley overnight and you'll see precip coverage start increasing.

There's warm air advection over Louisiana and parts of Texas with that S to SW flow. This also provides lift. Unfortunately, this is pushing heat in above the dense cold layer at the surface and why so much sleet and ice will fall. Farther north it'll still be cold enough to keep it mostly snow.

Surface low going to follow that tight temperature gradient with the gulf (all the dotted lines so close together near NOLA and into Alabama).

It's dumping snow up here around Longview. ShreveBo about to get it if it hasn't started already. Probably a good 3/4" per hour, maybe more.

I'm just showing where the lifting mechanisms are that will make the precip happen and how it is spreading into Louisiana and eastern Texas now. Low pressure will follow that and increase the coverage of precipitation too.
