Those bootstraps will need to be even tighter moving forward

I have had State Farm for 20+ years. Just got renewal…. Went from $1825 to $1975, right about 8% increase.

I also have StateFarm and mine went up to $2733 from $2626, only a 4% increase here, and that's including upping the value of my dwelling on my policy.

The insurance companies aren’t the side of the equation that basically makes all the rules in Baton Rouge, it’s the plaintiffs attorneys.

Yea, I can't afford homeowners insurance for my new mobile home, even if I could find it. Companies have all left Louisiana because of the excessive claims. All we can do now is hope FEMA will help with the damages if a disaster hits.

Does this unraveling extend to inland parishes like EBR ?
I would also like to know this.

In upper Ascension (no flood zone) and I've been told by State Farm that if I lapse their coverage and go with someone else, I cannot get a new policy with them due to my location.

All this grandstanding by legislators declaring war on insurers is going to result in nobody wanting to write business here.

What? The war is on the insureds.

Where’d you see this info from? I’m interested, please post the source. Thanks

Washington Post article dated Nov. 5, 2024 titled “Everyone’s ignoring these investors’ warnings on climate risk. You shouldn’t.
Climate change is rewriting the rules of real estate.”

I’d link but you probably need a subscription to access it.

No reason for concern or worry. Rest assured that LA Gov. Jeff Landry has a plan to solve the crisis. But first, he has to make sure a real tiger is at LSU games, then he can begin tackling these small issues facing our state.

Got dropped by farmers last year, made sure to get a new roof on them before the drop date.

Ended getting similar coverage from State farm for a similar price. Our deductibles went up a little bit, but the coverage remained the same

Whatever you do, under no circumstances go with Allstate or State Farm. No matter how much cheaper they are, it is not worth it.

How is GEICO in your eyes? I have them for auto and condo insurance. The condo insurance is written through Homesite which I’m guessing is just a Geico subsidiary. I would still do my claim through Geico.

Living in Florida (though near Orlando so well away from the coast) I’m expecting to get scr*wed over due to Hurricane Milton.
