Got to take a look in the mirror. As much as people talk about how nice people from LA are, there are a lot of snakes and shady as frick people.

We have bad infrastructure and a good portion of the population that is unemployable. That's the fault of electing shitty people and keeping the cycle going.

Have to attract businesses somehow.

We fricked ourselves on offshore royalties a long time ago. Houston should still be a cowtown but we let them grow while we withered away. Nola to Baton Rouge should be a metropolis but we can’t get out of our own way

Do we? Houston and even Mobile get more traffic than New Orleans.
i don’t think mobile does more cargo traffic than New Orleans and you are completely glossing over the fact that the port of New Orleans is only the second busiest port in the state

Qatar is an s-hole if you aren't part of the ruling class.

Do the math if we put $ 1.00 per bbl tax on each bbl of oil imported into our state.

Neither is really true.

NOLA isn’t close to “most valuable port.” And most of the oil and gas has been tapped.

Didn't we have 3 or 4 insurance commissioners go to prison?

Three or four in A ROW! There were also a couple agriculture commissioners sent to prison years back and one other indicted although I think charges were eventually dropped.

Supposedly it goes back to Huey Long.

He cut deals with oil companies that got him and his family paid to this day. Most of the family lives out of state.

As to the city and the port, it's a great point. Incredible port and they can't seem to coordinate things to capitalize on it to be a super-port for Marine, Rail and Air. Imagine the logistical impact if they could.

Crooked politics. Keep voting the same ilk in office and you get the same results.

Why are we a poor state and not Qatar?
Because it's not Texas. Give Louisiana to Texas, and they'll have Louisiana humming along in no time.
