Received summons last week.

If you want out of it, just do some basic research on the CJ system and let the defense know that you’re not an idiot. They typically try to select the stupidest people possible.

Or he could just tell them he hates black people.

Then they will know for sure you are an idiot.

Hey, try your best to make it in the jury. Could really use an easy not guilty next week.

I've never been called for jury duty and I'm 40 years old and have been a registered voter since I was 18. Anyone know if that is abnormal? I'm sure it sucks but I'm almost curious what it's like at this point

Not sure how they do it where you’re from but here if your name is called, you’re picked. It’s not like pettit jury where they interview and select. Grand jury names are selected at random of those subpoenaed and that’s it

Just say you believe in jury nullification

One of my coworkers was selected for federal grand jury. He was selected. It was once a month for 1-3 days for a year.

Yes they only want idiots.
"If this court proves guilt beyond a reasonable doubt then would you agree that you have to convict?"
I said if the evidence presented proves guilt in my opinion then yes I would convict.
Just dance around that question a little and they'll send you home quickly.

Grand jury. Not a jury. Basic research on the CJ system lets you know the difference.

What is the address? Is it Federal Grand Jury? Or just Grand Jury?
If it is Federal Grand Jury just hope and prey you don't get selected. If you are one of the first 30...you are screwed.
You will meet every other week for a year! I had to do it...and when the Judged asked if there is anyone who thinks they can't serve, I raised my hand.
I said, "My father shot and killed someone. I worked 7 years at Victim Services Center in Norristown, PA."
The Judge said, "None of those were Federal Crimes."
All and all it was not that bad. You get inside scoop on Future news stories.

I had like 5 summons in the 6 year period after registering to vote. I also failed to appear to any of the summons, entirely consequence free. So I am also curious as to what jury duty is like.

The first rule of the grand jury is you don’t talk about the grand jury.

I've never been called for any jury duty whatsoever

Scruffy has been called for jury duty twice in his short life and he hasn’t been able to go either time.

As I understand it, on a grand jury, you can ask questions, not just the DA. Also remember, the DA is looking for an indictment, so he will only be presenting evidence against the accused.

A grande jury summons means they know you're fat.

I went last week. They call roll, then draw 12 names and 2 alternates. If they draw your name, you serve unless you meet some very strict criteria (over age 70, convicted felon, a couple of other reasons they will eliminate you). They dont ask you questions. Completely different process than petit jury selection.
