There are still multibillion dollar waterfront facilities under construction. There are two Venture Global plants under construction in Louisiana.

Ok, but lets be honest… there was zero chance of hq2 coming to Louisiana

This isn't JUST a single Semiconductor plant being built for 20 billion. This is just the first phase. When all three phases are built...its going to be 3 Semiconductor plants totaling 10k employees and 100 billion in investment. Part of those billions, is constructing a "mini-city" out of thin air, in and around this development. This is going to transform the entire region. This is a HUGE get for Ohio and my home town. Cant wait to go to the announcement today!!

That’s up to the companies anyway…
Not always. I am losing productivity now because my daughter can’t go to daycare and someone has to be home to watch her. My state and county demand a 14 day quarantine after an exposure. We had an exposure in late December, then went back to day care one day when another exposure happened.
Not all states are this insane. I don’t even think Louisiana pulls shite like this. But Louisiana is pretty close to Texas as Florida, both of which have a better record.

Maybe Ohio's politicians didn't demand as big a handout as Louisiana's traditionally do?

Was Louisiana a candidate for this?

Never said we had a chance at HQ2 and I am not criticizing the state for missing out on it. But Louisiana seems to have ceased all efforts to recruit even smaller, more realistic new investments when Edwards took office. It’s as if economic development is just not a concern. That’s a legitimate complaint and criticism of JBE’s administration.

Why would anyone want to bring any kind of business here? The first thing you have to do would buy excessive amounts of insurance to cover you when Morris Bart or Get Gordon sues the frick out of you.
You believe that lawyers in other states are kind and gentle?
You can not possibly be this stupid.
Well, this is the Rant so..........

Highly unlikely. Louisiana doesn't have enough of an educated population for a facility like that. The only big businesses that build here are chemical plants.

There has been a mad dash of companies leaving California in the past few years. Louisiana got exactly zero of those.
There is nothing realistically on deck to supplement the oil and gas industry, much less replace it.

was there not a pandemic in every other state too?
Luckily Ron DeSantis actually follows the science and isn't some puppet sloth bitch with his strongest merit being his Highschool location.

Most of those Intel jobs are manufacturing and distribution.

Have you been to New Albany in the last few years? Hard to say that another Big Tech investment is going to transform much. Les Wexner's mater planned community already has huge data centers for Facebook, Apple, Google and others. The amount of money pouring into New Albany the last few years was already mind-boggling.
Did Les Wexner's financial dealings with Jeffrey Epstein somehow lead to his enormous leverage over these mega-corporations? Inquiring minds want to know.

No large corporation would decide to make a significant multi-billion dollar technology manufacturing investment in Louisiana. We are close to dead last in every meaningful metric for quality of life issues, public infrastructure and business friendly regulatory policies. It's not even close to being debatable.
HR to the corporate development team: "well, we can move there but our employees will need to send their kids to private schools and carry some of the highest auto insurance rates in the country." For starters.
We have petrochemical, tourism, a declining O&G industry, and PI attorney billboards on every highway with saturation coverage on radio / TV daily.
There's no logical business case to be made for locating a major technology manufacturing facility in Louisiana.

This man knows. Too many politicians with their hands out to begin with. Too many hoops to jump through. Too many ignorant bastards living in the state to fill the jobs.
