WAFB
What the hell would compel someone to lie about having shots fired at them? Were they that bored? That is the second BR-area cop fired for this in two months.

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - A DPS officer has been fired after claiming a motorcycle driver that he was pursuing had fired shots at him Monday night.
Louisiana State Police says on Monday, October 29, just after 6 p.m., former DPS Police Officer Chandler LeGrange reported to LSP his involvement in a pursuit and that shots had been fired at him by a motorcyclist on Juban Road in Livingston Parish. Numerous law enforcement officials responded and began a search for the suspect.
ORIGINAL STORY: Officials looking for motorcyclist after shots allegedly fired at officer during chase
Detectives with LSP immediately began an investigation, and as a result, several inconsistencies began to arise. After further investigation and questioning, it was determined LeGrange’s report was fabricated.
LeGrange was fired and is charged with malfeasance in office and filing false public records. He was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center Wednesday afternoon.
At the time of the incident, LeGrange was a probationary employee with the Department of Public Safety Police.

Paging gravy......
We need to know the ethnicity of the motorcycle driver to decide if this is news or not.
If there was a driver or was the whole thing fabricated?

It sounds as if it is completely fabricated.
I got a weird feeling about it when the alert first came out because I've never known LPSO, LSP, and DPS to not chase until the wheels come off, especially when shots are fired.
There should be dash cam footage showing whether or not he even turned on his lights.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but don't these guys basically drive around and give out tickets for inspection stickers and seatbelts? Maybe Chandler couldn't make it into LSP, but really wanted to see some real police action, so he took matters into his own hands.

Yep, they handle the shite that is below that of LSP Troopers. LSP Troopers are the top dogs in the state. DPS is like their underachieving little brother.

Actually IIRC, Wildlife and Fisheries agents have more authority and power than State Troopers.
Think the guys who drive these around....

Not really, but it’s a common myth they like to play in to.

They enfonce DOT regulations on commercial trucks. Like 18 wheelers.

Give me an example of said extra power that state police do not have?

Entering your private residence without a warrent to check for illegal game and fish.
At least that is what I always heard, may be a myth.

Let me help y’all with this one. NO ONE is exempt from the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution. But those LDWF frickers will let you think that while you submit to a search.

They can search someone in the act of hunting and fishing or immediately thereafter without a warrant. Like while pulling your wet boat. Not your private residence unless you are hunting or fishing from inside your house or camp.

They are allowed to search due to exigent circumstances just like any other LEO.
They don't have more power.

Don’t be coming up in here speaking the truth. Let’s let myths remain sacred.

Add speeding tickets and you're talking about LSP....
