Despite being the poorest state in the country Mississippi is better governed than Louisiana.

Mississippi actually gets the second highest number of people leaving Louisiana every year. I wouldn't be surprised if Mississippi improves 3-4 rankings in education over the next couple of years. They really been trying to improve that and invest in infrastructure.

If he really gave a shite about education and quality teachers, he would be pushing that in the legislative session happening right now.

As a state we rank in the 20s in spending per pupil for the 48th ranked education system. Some ROI we are getting there. Maybe if we spent in the top 10 we could slide up to 45?

Which is why people like Senitrius who think cutting taxes here will automatically bring us to some utopian state are hilariously misguided

well we've been paying some of the highest taxes in the country- be it sales taxes, income taxes, or whatever- and we're still shitty.

I don't know if cutting taxes will birth a utopia or not, but why cant we at least try it? If the place still sucks, at least I'll have more of my money to spend on visiting other places that suck less.

or maybe- just maybe- we could try to get parents to give a shite. How? I don't know. But no amount of money is going to fix our education problems.

And why is the economy in the shitter? I suppose Jindal had nothing to do with it in your mind.

what about Blanco, Treen or Huey P? Obama or Clinton? What about Carter or FDR? See how that works?

JBE has been in office for 2 years. What do we have? I don't care what his predecessors did. What has he done to fix it?

I'll listen while you tell me about how awful the legislature has been. Or maybe you can point to the call center that gonna employ 40 part time workers. Whoo hoo!!!!!!

All JBE has done is raise taxes and expand Medicaid. A twelve year old could fix the budget gap by raising taxes

I think getting rid of the income tax would be a huge plus. I'm also not of the opinion that traditional Republican ideas are going to save a state that's got a century of dysfunction behind it.
