I just know having covid sucks.

Not that I was on death's door, but it just doesn't want to go away.

But did you die?

At least that seems to be all that matters to anyone on TD. I personally would rather not be sick for several weeks and feel like crap. I know a LOT of younger people who felt really bad for a week. Everybody just seems to assume they will be one of the ones who has almost no symptoms and just loses smell and taste.

How do you know you won't be one who ends up sick for weeks?

I don't, but I'm willing to take the risk.

How do you know you won't get cleaned out by a semi on the way home from work today?

It is all that fricking matters….whether you like it or not this virus is going endemic, if it’s not already, and we will have to deal with it for the long haul. Hopefully eventually humans develop some sort of permanent immunity to it like other coronaviruses (probably would have already happened if this would have come from nature).

Until then you have to learn to live with 50% of people being vaccinated with what now appear to be semi-effective vaccines. If that scares you and you want to stay masked up in your house under your covers then so be it, but you can’t force that on society. Society needs to move on to pre-pandemic activity levels ASAP. 100% open.

Fear really seems to be your determining factor. I prefer facts (and yes I had Covid, and yes, it sucked). The upside is that at least now I feel that my immune system will be more virulent. The data (at least at this point) seems to bear that out.

Young unvaccinated people are the vast majority of hospitilaztions in louisiana now. The Pneumonia that covid cuases is what causes most of the severe cases and deaths. Those who are vit d deficent and those that are obese or smokers are at the highest risk and we have lots of smokers in louisiana.

Nothing says trust me like posting easily verifiable bullshite from an alter account.

It is quite literally impossible to know that right now
Then it is also quite literally impossible to know if covid is really dangerous for young people too right?

You are right. No one knows what the long term effects of this biological weapon are just as much as what the long term effects of the vaccine are. One risk I have no choice in dealing with but it is practically no threat to me, and the other is optional. I'll stay at "pretty much zero threat" for now thanks.

I mean, we certainly know much more about long term effects in vaccines in general than we do about COVID 19.

Not this type of vaccine we don't. Just being cautious with me and my family's future is all. I have the luxury of having no one in my house be at risk, so waiting and seeing is the play until we're comfortable taking the vaccine or our hands are forced and there is no recourse through legal channels

I thought the 2 mRNA vaccines were not like any other vaccines that we have done before? Is it prudent to assume it would work the same as the others?

Question for the forum:

1: how do we know that delta wasn’t a new variant released by the CCP to continue to frick us? (They were so successful with the round 1)

I’ve realized covid is the new war on terror. It’s not meant to be won. We will have to put up with this shite for the next 20 years. It’s too juicy for TPTB

For arguments sake, considering over 500k people in LA have already had COVID (and that's just based off of positive tests from March 2020 and doesn't count those from Nov 2019 - Mar 2020 (pre testing)) they would have an idea how their body will react to COVID. And, in theory, every time they are re-infected, the illness should be less severe and the recovery process should be shorter.
