Testing data is not consistent. Dozens of different labs processing tests and reporting to the state at different intervals. That is why the rolling average was good before the dumps of historic data.
Hospitalizations would be people who were infected the last week of April which is when we saw a jump in people out.

Rolling Averages:
I think what's most interesting is that the 3-Day rolling average on deaths has abandoned the trend of the past 6-8 weeks and is falling more in line with the 7-Day & 14-Day averages...this is not only a good sign, but a clear indicator that the ~30/day might be the baseline since nearly every death is tested now for COVID.

I'm well aware of that. Reporting an ever increasing number, total cases, is dumb. They should report recovery and the various changes in hospitalization related numbers.
But since that's the thing that's going to be used to make decisions, it's kind of "important" to watch.

We were told yesterday that no one at my Grandpas nursing home has shown symptoms for the last 6 days
From what we know they had under 20 cases & no deaths
It will be interesting to see nursing home names & numbers Monday

Recovered data is 5 days old. 14 days from 5/10 is 4/26. New cases: 4/26 - 4/30 = 1,489

6,267 Conservative estimate of cases not in hospitals
Obligatory: The 14 day guidelines are given by ldh and based on when the patient tests positive. The information that we have readily available is when the positive test result is known, not when the test was administered. In addition, the date of the onset of symptoms does not matter either.
If you add the new cases from 5/02 through 5/15 (14 days), you get 5,124 cases. 7,699 cases from 4/25 through 5/15 (21 days)

Yup. We are in a good place if we keep up with the hygiene and distance practices. No reason to keep things closed.
The Gov could declare preliminary victory and let out more rope.
Although there is a high likelihood of some increase down the road, we shouldn’t ever get back on that upward rocket trajectory we had at the beginning.

I don’t know, and haven’t heard anything suggesting that. Separating the nursing home numbers makes sense, especially if this devolves into a monitoring program.

The real frick up will be if they start adding antibody testing numbers without attempting to date correct. I believe some other states are beginning to do such.

20 cases, all asymptomatic?
Is it a privately owned nursing home or state run?
I read an article from Canada saying if you lived in a private nursing home you were twice as likely to die. Now there are two possibilities. One, they are cutting corners on care to save money. Or two, they are listing deaths as COVID because there is some sort of financial incentive for that.

The steps they put in place prevented it from being terrible but they could have & should have done more
Of course they are cutting corners & I would love to know how much extra billing they ran up on people that don’t have any family watching out for them

I’m confused. If they weren’t showing symptoms why were they tested? Did they test the whole place 6 days ago and 20 were positive and now we are 6 days later and everyone is still asymptomatic?
