In what is probably the worst Tuesday bump LDH reported 1,125 new cases, after removing duplicates.

1,015 are from 7/01 to date
920 are from the last 15 days (7/14 - 7/28)
820 are from the last 8 days (7/21 - 7/28)

Per the CDC's new guidelines of 10 days, LA has had 9,762 new cases in the past 10 days....you would obviously need to add back those that have been hospitalized for longer durations, and anyone that still has a fever, but a decent benchmark.

Scroll down & see the WH statement
At the bottom you can toggle between a bunch of charts

Probably because JBE got us to be a surge area

Look halfway into the summary, all the federal staff deployments
37 people to support USCG
Is that the Coast Guard?

For parishes in the ‘Red Zone,’ the White House Coronavirus Task Force suggested people wear a mask at all times outside the home and to limit gatherings to 10 people or fewer. The task force also suggests that public officials “close bars and gyms, and create outdoor dining opportunities with pedestrian areas.” The closing of bars and gyms is something that Louisiana has not enacted in its current Phase 2 status.

Takeaways:

Percent positive continues good trend

Only 16,000 tests today, getting ready for a big day coming up when they dump all the tests, probably tomorrow.

Hospitalizations -2 over the last 4 days

Do we have data showing that gyms have been a source of community spread?

I’m calling this as the official peak of hospitalizations. I’m guessing it will fluctuate back and forth over the next 5-7 days then begin to see a clear downturn.

Over last 4 days hospitalizations have gone DOWN by 17. Impossible to spin that as anything other than GREAT news.
